The Black Chapel Collective is an Essex-based group of electronic artists, DJs, musicians, poets, and rappers, led by producer and songwriter Steve Mortimer, and who explore themes of climate change, gender equality, and social justice through creative projects. This next year will be the leadup to a concert in April called reConnect, the full version of the audio/visual project exploring the overlap between science, arts, and spirituality that was originally conceived for 2020, but was instead adapted into a film due to pandemic restrictions.

This is the first song to be released from the project featuring Steve’s son Safenath.

Outside can be heard every day this week on City Sound during our breakfast, lunchtime and drivetime shows.

On this Wednesday’s Transmission on City Sound with Paul Dupree from 8pm, his guests in to chat will be Billericay duo Hamlin, who have achieved critical acclaim with their first two singles.

Around 9.15pm, from Colchester, solo indie-pop artist George Erith, whose output has racked up more than 2 million streams, will be playing a few songs live in the studio.

Continuing our archive clips from the first ten years of Transmission, after 10 there’s performances and chat from shows first broadcast in 2018/19, featuring Elliott Paterson (Little Earl), Black Chapel with Michelle Ward, Gen Irving, Roisin O'Hagan and George Appleton.
