Yesterday, we shared the testimonial we received for 'Ski Racer' along with a little clip of the film itself, so it only makes sense that we share the new edit of our little '24 film.

It was our first time filming on a ski slope period, so to be filming a ski racer at speed was an amazing experience that called upon our skill set to best capture the action, with handheld, fixed and drone cameras, to create a full picture and feeling of that movement. It was for the best that my knees didn't know the work they'd be doing before the day began!

But more than the action, the story was about Monty. A young Ski Racer, still at school, and compared to some who will have grown up on the slopes, relatively new to the sport, finding a passion and making it his life's pursuit.

You see the result on the slopes, but I realised that the story was in the preparation. From the daily rituals of training, to the literal sharpening of his skis before the sharpening of his skills, it felt like capturing the essence of what it is to find something you love and pursue it beyond the financial limitations and the competition. About being fearless but prepared.

In 2024 we followed Monty Bedwell, a rising dry slopes Ski Racer, through a day at Gloucester Ski & Snowboard Centre where he is an ambassador, and then through his training routine at Hartpury College where he studies.

We interviewed Monty Bedwell about his introduction into Skiing, the challenges he faces, and both his insights and accomplishments so far in the sport.

His mother Sally Corless, had these lovely things to say about us:

"My son is a ski racer and we had the absolute pleasure of working with Steve and Chris to make a short film about his life as a racer.

Steve and Chris worked hard behind the scene to make it happen, liaising with the ski slope and my son's college organising the logistics. On the day,we had the privilege of having Chris for filming. He explained how the day would unfold making my son feel at ease. He then spent several hours filming my son skiing using a drone and got some incredible footage, and then filmed in the state of the art gym at my son's college.

He was so friendly and approachable, and bent over backwards to make a nervous teenager feel comfortable at every stage ( including an informal interview). He felt so special and really enjoyed the whole experience. The Unique Media Group are truly Unique, and we are truly grateful for the time spent and the amazing end result .

Thank you so so much, you guys are BRILLIANT."

Whenever we hear things like this from our clients, we never take them lightly as it genuinely means the world to us, driving us to continue on with that passion for all our projects.

In 2024 we visited Bath Spa to film some of the beautiful City Center. Here we visited the Beazer Garden maze, the Pulteney Weir and Bridge, and the Royal Crescent.

It was great to get the drone up for a fresh perspective of this amazing City that is a destination for people across the world.

Back in 2022, when I first starting shooting with DJI Drones, I wasn't someone that gravitated heavily to aerial videography, although I always appreciated the work I saw of others.

I'm from a background of narrative, cinematic film making and film photography, and I have always tried to hold onto that truth that it really isn't about the gear, it's about the person filming. The bid difference of course, is that my cameras didn't fly.

You learn to use the tools first. The things that come instinctively, what you have to practise, how to bridge your vision to your ability.

One evening, I looked out the window and saw those pink skies of dusk at the seafront where I live, and instead of grabbing my camera, I grabbed the drone, headed outside, and filmed.

We've shot 100's of films with the drone since, each more complicated, with more things to consider, different, more specific focal points, but this was the day I found a love for using the medium as an extension of how I like to film, and that enjoyment, when you find it, almost always makes the work better.

So this might not be the best aerial flight we've captured, but it is one of the first and the seed of the work to come.

When it came to looking for landmarks to show off about Wells, it wasn't hard to make a decision. Built between 1175 and 1490, Wells Cathedral is one of the earliest English cathedrals constructed entirely in the Gothic style. You may even recognise it from the Harry Potter movies.

When we film landmark or tourist destinations in towns, we always want to approach it like the audiences is exploring it for the first time, because some often are, but in a way thats almost borders on the surreal, we want the viewer to soar, not just be aware that they are watching a drone do some aerial acrobatics. The aerial footage that resonates with me is that of a motivated movement, reveals within the architecture, more a feeling of flight and less that of a roller coaster.

We visited Glastonbury to film the incredible heritage sight that is the Glastonbury Tor, known for it's spiritual significance and linking back to King Arthur and Avalon!

It has been a long time pilgrimage site, with people travelling to it for its history and beautiful panoramic views.

We couldn't pass up on the opportunity to head out and send the drone up into the heavens far above for some of the first sunny days of the year.

We recently filmed on location for Cotswold Deep Cleaning where they transformed a newly purchased home, removing built-up dust, dirt and the traces left behind by previous occupants — leaving the property fresh, clean and ready for its new owners.

We grabbed a few moments with the founder and CEO who introduced his business and it makes all the difference in connecting the person and personality to the project.

Whether you're moving into a new home, preparing a property for sale or looking to maximise your chances of securing your tenancy deposit, Cotswold Deep Cleaning provides that extra level of care and attention.
