I’ll apologise for the potty mouth. I usually make videos with music over the top of them but for everyone raving about these heaters. They’re just crap.

Nordkapp diesel heater strip down.

This has come into us not working at all when fitted. Found that it’s been fitted by a so called auto sparky that really shouldn’t be doing this for a living but that’s another story.
Thought I’d strip the Nordkapp down as the customer doesn’t want it anymore and wants to upgrade to the HLN.
We’ve swapped a few of these out but never stripped one. Well here you go. It’s a nice case and that’s where it ends. The rest of it is absolute crap. They’re just a cheap Chinese heater rebranded with a very good advertising campaign. Controller cable is only 1m long. The ducting, intake and exhaust are all cheap.
We weighed the burner tubes. Out aftermarket eberspacher ones are 465g and the Nordkapp is 330g. Heat exchanger is so this it’s like a razor.

They’re just built cheap and the controller functions are awful as well

Autoterm diesel heater in for repairs. Nothing wrong with the heater but the leisure battery was not holding charge and I also found a corded plug to the heater that was under the van.

Autoterm heater in for a repair, coming up low voltage. Traced the fault to a corroded plug at the heater and also the leisure battery was no longer holding charge. 775amp battery was showing 13.2v on the display in the van but only had about 300amps in it. Replaced with a exide marine leisure battery. It did have the wrong charger fitted but it’s been on years now. Customer didn’t want to upgrade. Another happy camper back on the road.

Not had one of these in for years. A Bonhoeffer food van. This one’s had a tough life and someone who liked to bodge the fridge. Condenser that was to big and they welded the pipes to it, compressor missing its pulley and a leaking shaft seal. Low pressure switches not operating correctly and a probe on the evap bypassed. Changed all the faulty parts and made a smart condenser fan up and bracket. Finally got it to hold 300psi of nitrogen for an hour. Regassed and back to the customer. -van

I know the new eberspacher heaters use a different glow plug and they’re not the cheapest part unlike the older d4/d2 units but come on people don’t be foolish. Just buy the correct part. They hardly ever fail anyway so can’t see why this one would have failed after 2 years.
