SAVE this for your next one-length haircut ✂️

It is controversial, and so many people like to cut their one-length haircut with the head already pushed forward. The trouble with doing that is that by having the head pushed forward first and then cutting a straight line, you create a rounded shape — which is fine if that’s what you want.

But if you want to create a perfect straight line when the head is up, you must cut the straight line first and then push the head forward, following the natural arc that the body creates.

I hope this helps and makes sense as well. It certainly was a revelation for me 20 years ago when I learned this technique, and it’s the basis and foundation for creating that beautiful long line of graduation through the front to give you gorgeous face-framing layers when creating a butterfly haircut ✨

✨ How amazing was my first day back behind the chair? ✨

Meet Shreya.

I’ll admit, I was a little nervous returning to work after being away for so long, but as soon as we started chatting, I felt right at home again.

Shreya came to me with beautiful, incredibly long hair and a clear goal: keep the length, keep the thickness, but add movement, texture and shape. With naturally wavy-curly hair, she wanted something low maintenance, easy to wear, and flattering whether worn down or tied up into a thick ponytail.

We spent a good 20 minutes in consultation, looking through Pinterest inspiration and discussing exactly what she wanted. Consultation is everything. The more I understand my client’s lifestyle, hair goals and styling habits, the better the result.

Together we landed somewhere between a butterfly cut and a modern s**g, creating soft face-framing layers that opened up her gorgeous features without sacrificing length.

The result? Hair that moves, feels lighter, has more texture and shape, but still looks full and effortless.

And honestly? It felt so good to be back doing what I love. 💛

I know this so well !

I know this feeling so well.

And honestly, there is still so much of it that I need to move through.

Especially after the last year.

Even before my diagnosis.
Even during treatment.
Even now.

For me, this season is about showing up in a way that truly resonates with the people I want in my world.

People who understand that growth doesn’t happen overnight.

It’s something you practise every single day.

And maintaining that growth starts with awareness.

Being aware of what you want.

Being aware of where you’re going.

Being aware that you need a plan.

And being aware of the feeling you need to carry with you every day.

A feeling of abundance.

A feeling of possibility.

A feeling of joy.

And I know that’s not always easy.

Some days it’s really hard.

But consistency is the secret.

That’s the one thing I’ve learned.

Consistency conquers all.

You can fail a thousand times.

You can doubt yourself.

You can have days where nothing seems to go right.

But if you keep getting up…
If you keep showing up…
If you keep moving forward…

Everything starts to change.

You don’t have to win every day.

In fact, it’s not even about winning.

It’s about showing up.

Being true to yourself.

Being true to the life you want to create.

Because amazing things can happen.

The dreams you have for yourself are possible.

They’re waiting for you.

But it all starts with a decision.

A decision to keep going.

A decision to believe.

A decision to show up.

And that decision is yours to make.
