✨ This is shaping up to be a special night ✨

We’ll be celebrating not only one of the greatest UK jazz albums of the 70s — Neil Ardley’s Kaleidoscope of Rainbows — but also exploring gems from the same era: Mike Westbrook, Ian Carr, Don Rendell, Henry Lowther and more.

This is more than music. It’s an escape. A journey. A vibe.

🎶 Directed by Scott Stroman, the Guildhall Jazz Orchestra takes the stage with the phenomenal adding his own fire and flair.

Jazz? Yes — but this isn’t polite background jazz. This will challenge your preconceptions, get under your skin, and leave you wanting more.

Nothing would make me happier than a full house for this one.

Kaleidoscope at 50 – A Celebration of British Jazz History

In 1975, composer Neil Ardley unveiled Kaleidoscope of Rainbows—a daring, luminous fusion of jazz, rock, and Balinese scales that reshaped the sound of British jazz forever. Described at the time as “a triumph… inspired… Ardley is in the line of Ellington and Gil Evans in his audacious imagination,” the work has since become one of the most celebrated masterpieces in modern British music.

This November, to mark its 50th anniversary, the piece returns to the stage in spectacular fashion:

Chichester – Minerva Theatre
Saturday 22 November, 7.30pm
Tickets available from Saturday 13 September → cft.org.uk/events/kaleidoscope-of-rainbows-50

London – Guildhall Jazz Festival x EFG London Jazz Festival
Sunday 23 November, 3pm
Milton Court Concert Hall
Free entry | No booking required

Led by Scott Stroman, the acclaimed Guildhall Jazz Orchestra will perform the full work. Expect not only Ardley’s Kaleidoscope of Rainbows in all its technicolour brilliance, but also a deep dive into the jazz treasures of the 60s and 70s—music born from the same era of fearless experimentation, joined by acclaimed saxophonist Binker Golding!!!

Presented in association with Analogue October Records, who are proud to announce the remastered deluxe reissue of Kaleidoscope of Rainbows—releasing this December. Check the new website for details on this release.

A landmark recording. A milestone concert. A rainbow reborn.

Hey… strongly urge you to give a follow as this new account will very soon become the shops main channel for all good things related to our little shop on South Street. This account will slowly transition to become only about the label, the reissues, the mastering and pressing processes, choices and of course, the releases. Oh, and the occasional T shirt too (pictured).

Spent too much of my student grant at Tower Records? Absolutely. Any regrets? Not a single one.

So seeing this—this—makes me grin like an idiot.

Tower Records may have vanished from the high streets of the US and Europe, but in Japan? It’s still alive, thriving, and packed with serious vinyl heads. Honestly, the Japanese vinyl scene is next level. Precision, passion, perfection. No surprise that my favourite cartridge brand——is born there. These folks don’t just listen to records. They experience them.

Which is why it means the world to me to see Neil’s album making waves there. Watching it find new ears, new hearts, in a place that reveres vinyl playback like sacred ritual? That’s the dream. And with ’s master behind it, I’m confident Japan’s going to fall hard for this record.

The reviews have been glowing, the stock is dwindling, and while I knuckle down on the next one (Abbey Road Half-Speed Master incoming…), I just want to say: this moment feels damn good.

Still time to snag a copy at Analogue October Records before they’re gone. This one’s special. But then again, I’m only really interested in making special records.

The reviews continue to roll in!!

“This sounds truly enormous.”
Clash Magazine has lauded our reissue of Neil Ardley’s Harmony Of The Spheres, describing it as a “space-jazz-rock behemoth” and praising Caspar Sutton-Jones’ flawless mastering from Decca’s original tapes.

From the luxurious insert to the near-silent Optimal pressing, this one’s built for the deep listeners.
Only 500 copies exist, and according to Clash, “they’ll be changing hands for big money before too long.” You’ve been warned…

Listen big. Float further.
Out now via Analogue October.

Welcome to the AOR family! Huge thanks to HiFi John for sorting this out… Another reason to extol the virtues of keeping it local and indie (I say this whilst my shop remains closed because BT openreach are unable to service businesses at the weekend!!! LONG STORY, just grateful it wasn’t last weekend!!!). I digress… The Hegel warrants all the praise it’s received from the HiFi press and customers alike. And true to form, HiFi John delivers yet another first class customer experience!!! should take exceptional pride in the fact they’ve crafted a delicious yet nuanced beast of a Power Amp in the H20. The perfect antidote after a very frustrating morning “trying” to get our internet woes sorted!!!
