Sharing perfect social media content is the problem.

When I worked as a photographer, I thought I was doing all the “right” things.
Spending hours planning content.

Only posted when everything looked flawless.

Then sat there wondering… why isn’t this working?

And, so many business owners do the same.
We care, deeply.
We want the best for our business.
And perfection feels like the way to get it.
Safe. Smart. Strategic… right?

I blamed the algorithm.
Surely it wasn’t me.
Polished posts. Perfect captions.
If it wasn’t 100%, it didn’t get posted on socials.

But the problem wasn’t the algorithm.
It was me.
Stuck in patterns that felt professional, but kept me invisible online.

Here’s how I broke the spell:

✨ I swapped polish for personality, and people finally connected.

✨ I posted when it was “good enough” and learned what actually worked.

✨ I let people see the messy, behind-the-scenes version of me. That’s when trust started to build.

✨ I stopped trying to please everyone and started attracting the right people.

Breaking the perfection habit isn’t easy. You don’t have to fix everything overnight.

Just start here:
👉 Post one thing this week that feels more you, even if it’s not your version of perfect.

Because playing it safe might look good…
But it’s keeping you small.

Which one of these habits are you unlearning right now?

Why is the comparison trap so easy to fall into?

Because you’re human.
Comparing your business to someone else’s will happen; it’s natural.
But what really matters is how you deal with it.

Like the carousel says, you have no idea what’s happening behind the scenes in other businesses.
They might be outsourcing social media marketing, have a bigger team, or simply be at a different stage in their business.
You only ever see the highlights, not the full story.

The only thing you can control is how much space you give that feeling.

One thing I often do?
I look back at where I was a year ago, and that always makes me smile.

Because the distance between then and now is what really counts.

That’s where your focus should be: your own path.

Yes, social media matters.
But your follower count doesn’t define your success.
Keep showing up, being authentically you, and sharing the difference your business makes for your ideal customers.

When you do that, you’ll shine on social media for all the right reasons. 💚

You need to know this 👇

You know your business inside out,  your offers, your services, your clients.

But somewhere along the way, you started thinking your content had to sound clever.
That’s where it goes wrong.

Because overcomplicated content?
🚫 They would presume it isn’t for them
🚫 They have no clue what you are talking about

Picture this: you stop on a post that catches your eye…
and within seconds, you’re scrolling again.

Why? Because the message is buried under jargon.

So many business owners think using industry language makes them sound credible.
Maybe it does, to competitors. But they’re not the ones buying from you.

You’re not writing for your peers.
You’re writing for your ideal clients.

And when your content reads like a washing machine manual, your dream clients scroll on by.

Your content needs to be clear and human.
People should know instantly what your post is about, and why it’s for them.

So for me, as a Social Media Expert

1️⃣ I could say:
“I support clients with strategic content planning and engagement optimisation to improve online performance.”

2️⃣ But what I’d actually say is this 👇
“I help business owners feel confident, consistent, and clear about what to post, without the overwhelm or overthinking.”

See the difference?

Keep it simple 👇
👉 Write like you talk. Read it out loud. Does it sound like you?
👉 Focus on benefits.  How it makes people feel, not what it does.
👉 Ditch the fluff. Clarity converts.

This is exactly what I help my clients do: turn “huh?” content into “this is for me” content.

Drop your handle below and I’ll DM you one of your posts you could rework for better engagement.

There’s a big difference between posting to tick a box ✔️… and posting to win clients.

Be honest 👇
Have you been posting just to say you did?
(That “phew, at least I showed up” post-TICK)

I love a tick list too. I’ve even been guilty of adding things I’ve already done just for the satisfaction of crossing them off.

But ticking off “posted to Instagram” doesn’t cut it anymore.
Not in 2025.

Back in 2022/23, maybe you could get away with it. But Instagram has shifted. The platform is louder. There’s more social media content than ever. Visibility isn’t optional anymore; it’s what grows your business.

👉 Tick-a-box posting = “at least I’m here.”
Keeps you busy. Zero results.

👉 Client-winning posting = “this is why you should choose me.”
Builds trust. Builds authority. Builds desire. And puts money in the bank.

Because the shift between posting for the sake of it and posting to win clients is this: intentionality.
✔️Knowing why you’re posting
✔️Linking it to your goals
✔️Creating content that actually moves people closer to buying

Most business owners know they need to show up better.
The problem? They don’t know how.

And that’s where social media strategy comes in.

DM me “STRATEGY” if you’re ready to post with purpose, not just for the sake of it.

You’ve got it all wrong, and you’re worth more. 💛

Being productive can mean many things, and with today being World Mental Health Day, we all need this reminder, me included.

I’m guilty of this 100%.
Always feeling like I need to keep going, even when my head hurts, my eyes blur, and I know I should stop.
But pushing through isn’t strength; it’s self-sabotage.

We’ve been taught that being productive means doing.
Emails. Content. Tick-boxes that never end.
But sometimes, the most productive thing you can do… is nothing at all.

Rest isn’t weakness,  it’s strategy.
Because when you rest, you come back clearer, calmer, and ready to actually move your business forward, not just stay busy.

The reality is 👇
💭 You don’t build success by running on empty.
💭 You don’t get clarity by pushing through.
💭 You don’t lose progress by pausing, you protect it.

So next time guilt creeps in, remember:
Your business doesn’t need a burnt-out version of you.
It needs the recharged, creative, focused one.

This shouldn’t be a reminder saved for Mental Health Day.
It’s something we all need  to remember every day.
Your mental health is worth protecting.

💬 What’s one thing you do that helps you properly switch off?

Drop it in the comments - you might inspire another business owner who needs this reminder too.

THIS NEEDS TO BE SAID 👇

I see so many business owners falling into the same trap on social media…

They post endless tips.
“5 ways to do X.”
“3 tips for Y.”

And then they wonder why no one’s enquiring, why their social media content isn’t leading to sales.

The problem is - tips don’t sell.
They educate sure, but they don’t build desire, trust, or connection.
And when your content is only tips? You’re basically positioning yourself as Google: helpful, free… replaceable.

What actually makes people want to work with you?
When they feel seen, understood, and feel like you’re the safest option.
That’s why your social media strategy needs to focus on three content buckets:
1️⃣ Show the transformation you create
2️⃣ Make people feel understood
3️⃣ Position yourself as the obvious choice

(Swipe through the carousel for examples)

That’s what turns followers into paying clients.

BUT, tips do have their place in your social marketing strategy. But only when they’re:
✨ Part of a bigger strategy (not your whole feed)
✨ Connected back to your offer (“this is exactly what I help clients with…”)
✨ Bite-sized proof that builds authority

So next time you share a tip, ask yourself:
“Does this move someone closer to working with me, or am I just giving away free advice?”

Save this for later, and if you feel a bit called out right now, good. That means you know what to do next.
