Working with -brown-habitats on the River Ash restoration is the kind of project that reminds you why you do this work.

We’re filming in live habitat zones, surrounded by machinery, water and wild weather
So we came prepared:
Steel-capped boots, high vis, hard hats, a custom rain canopy
£8,000 worth of kit that’s mobile, rugged and ready for anything

Shoots like this demand more than good visuals
They need planning that holds up when conditions don’t
And a crew that knows how to stay out of the way and still get the shot

We drive a sleek VW ID Buzz to carry all our amazing kit across the country
Stylish, spacious, electric, perfect

It’s part of our commitment to reducing environmental emissions while keeping our production standards high

So when I was handed a tiny Toyota Aygo as a courtesy car on shoot day, I wasn’t exactly thrilled

Then the seats went down
And somehow, this budget hatchback swallowed all our kit.

I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT!
I’m paying for this big, beautiful van and apparently all I really need is a cheap car with folding seats

Hilarious, slightly humbling, but still, the Buzz is greener, more reliable and far more professional.

We’ll be sticking with it, so if you see us out on the road, give us a wave
And if we’re in the Aygo, just look the other way

Common Video Editing Mistakes (Part 3 of 3)
Forgetting the viewer, editing without insight

Too many videos are made in isolation
Plenty of message, but not enough focus on the audience
When you skip the research, you end up creating content you think people want, not what they have actually asked for

Your edit should be shaped by
• Questions your clients ask again and again
• Feedback you hear in real conversations
• Insights from what your audience watches and engages with

If you want people to watch, listen and take action, start by listening to them first

What are they confused about
What do they care about
What do they need to know before they trust you

Use that to guide the content, structure and tone of your edit
That is how you earn attention, not just views

Want help building video content around what your audience actually wants

New kit day delivery, YAY! (My favourite day :)
Dog destroys the boxes in seconds, BOOOOO...

Never leave your English Pointer puppy alone with your shiny new video production gear. Cooper made short work of the packaging, thankfully not the contents.

The good news, the kit is safe and testing is going well. We’re ready to shoot your content and, as always, our commitment to ever-increasing production standards never stops.

This new gear is approved for use by Netflix and the BBC, and it’s all part of making sure your videos look their absolute best.

If you’ve got a project coming up, now’s a great time to talk.

Common Video Editing Mistakes (Part 2 of 3)
Overediting, when more becomes too much

It’s easy to think more edits mean more impact.
But often, the opposite is true.

Too many cuts, flashy transitions or heavy effects can distract from what really matters, your message.

If your viewer is watching the edit instead of listening to you, you’ve already lost them.

Strong edits don’t shout, they support.
They hold the story steady so your audience stays focused.

Here’s how to avoid the mistake:
• Let your shots breathe, don’t cut every two seconds
• Use effects to guide, not impress
• Focus on rhythm, clarity and flow

Simple doesn’t mean basic, it means confident.

Do you know the difference between A-Roll and B-Roll?

A-Roll is your core message, the interview, the script, the straight-to-camera delivery
B-Roll is what brings it to life, the supporting visuals that show, not just tell

For our Quarterly Broadcast and Business Video Studio clients, we often shoot with a small crew, sometimes just one skilled operator capable of handling both roles. The A-Cam, a Sony FX6, captures the main message, sharp and focused. Ideal for business leaders who want to deliver their story with clarity and authority.

The B-Cam captures everything else, cutaways, product shots, team moments, environment. We use whatever tools the shot needs, whether it’s gimbals, wide lenses or telephotos. It’s flexible, efficient and designed to make your content feel bigger without pushing up the cost.

It’s not about adding crew, it’s about shooting smarter

Same shoot, stronger results

Common Video Editing Mistakes (Part 1 of 3)
Treating editing as the beginning, not the end

A common trap? Thinking editing is where the process starts.

But editing is post-production for a reason. It comes after planning and filming, not before.

If your story isn’t clear in pre-production, no amount of clever cuts or graphics will fix it. You can’t solve a messy message in the edit.

Great videos are built in planning.
The edit is just where it comes together.

Here’s how to avoid the mistake:
• Start with the message, not the visuals
• Plan every shot with purpose
• Use editing to refine, not rescue
