Ahead of dusting of my headphones for ‘A Night for Noah’ and playing a few old Buffers tunes, I thought I’d reminisce and pull out my top ten Buffers anthems.
In no particular order.
1. Rank 1 Vs Donna Williams – True Love Never Dies. A massive vocal trance anthem that was always a crowd pleaser.
2. Amen UK! – Passion. One of the first big crossover commercial hits, from the man behind Wand, The Candy Girls and Yomanda, Paul Masterson.
3. Sosumi – Feel the Tribute. Back in 2002 when Scouse House was peaking, Steve Cocky took the piano sample from my favourite ever tune, ASHA – JJ Tribute and made this absolute banger.
4. Tatjana – Santa Maria. 100% solid gold cheese. I first heard it on Rock FM live from the Palace in Blackpool, it was always well requested back in the day.
5. Dee Dee – Forever. A big tune in 2002 when I started at Buffers, one I played on my first night, shaking with nerves behind the decks.
6. New Power Generation – Good Life (Dancing Divaz Mix). An Ian Bland remix that totally transformed this tune, with massive support from Rock FM making it a bona fide banger.
7. JK – Beat It. Long before I was a Buffers DJ, every week I used to request this Italian House, Zone anthem.
8. Afrika Bambaataa – Pupunanny. Another from the cheese section, but I can’t help but love it and it is Buffers to me.
9. Paul Van Dyk Vs JPS – Found a Lover. From the peak of the vocal bootleg trend, it still stands up to this day.
10. 2 Funky 2 – Brothers and Sisters. There’s a mix for every occasion, often the last tune of the night in Buffers, so rightly the last tune on this list.
What’s your favourite Buffers tune?
