Actual scenes here at Lydbrook Band riverside concert. I'm not sure if I can technically call this a cake stall due to the presence of savoury sausage rolls but no complaints at all....

Good selection of cakes on offer today at Lydbrook Band riverside concert. I recall Bream Silver Band having a fantastic team of cake bakers. Looks like Lydbrook Band are pretty good as well. Great way of fundraising.

In 2024 Flowers Band were in Concert as part of the 2024 British Bandsman Concert Series: Reading, an evening that will live long in the memory and within the programme was 'Harrison's Dream' (Peter Graham), one week later the band took to the stage at The Royal Albert Hall and were awarded 1st place and the title of 'National Champions of Great Britain'.

The British Bandsman and Flowers Band are delighted to bring another concert to Reading, the concert will include the 2025 National Finals piece 'Symphony in Two Movements' (Edward Gregson) and how great would it be if lightning can strike twice and they retain the title.

Also present at the contest will be the wonderful National Champions Trophy before it returned for the contest the following weekend.

On Saturday, a small ensemble from the band performed as part of the Opening Ceremony of the 297th Three Choirs Festival at Hereford Cathedral alongside The Hereford Cathedral Choir, Festival Chorus, and Organ. It was a wonderful way to kick off the festival, with repertoire including works by Gabrielli, Scarlatti, Stamford, and Palestrina.

On Monday 28th July at 7:30pm, another small ensemble will perform at the festival as part of the world premiere of ‘A Mass for Reconciliation’, by Bob Chilcott, one of the UK’s leading living composers. The work features brass quintet, timpani, chorus, organ, and Mezzo-Soprano soloist.

This morning the group rehearsed the piece with the full forces in the presence of the composer, and we are hugely excited for the performance tomorrow. Some tickets do still remain and can be purchased at the link below ⬇️

These are our final band engagements before we have a well earned summer break!
