đź’Ž HEIST đź’Ž

Flowers Band are back for Brass in Concert — and this year, we’re planning the perfect crime.

Five daring premieres, one audacious plot, and a vault full of gold-standard brass playing.

Will our crew succeed in their mission to steal the Pink Diamond from a certain Parisian museum? Only time will tell.

We’ll be on stage at around 5.30pm on Saturday with new compositions from our international cast of composers: Andrea Price, Daniel Hall, Lucy Pankhurst, Pierre-Antoine Savoyat, and Stijn Aertgeerts.

See you at the rendezvous. Don’t be late.

Good luck to Lydney Town Band at Wychavon Festival of Brass on Saturday

There's only one day to go until the Wychavon Festival of Brass and we wanted to take the opportunity to shine a spotlight on David Pilkington-Crowe, who has a very important part to play in our entry at this year's contest!

David was one of the original members of Lydney Training Band, where he started on Baritone and later moved onto Euphonium. After achieving Grade Eight on the latter, he sought a new challenge and moved onto percussion. He went on to study Music at Cardiff University, specialising in composition, and today works as a music teacher.

His banding career has involved playing with, and conducting, a number of bands across the Gloucestershire. In 2023, he rejoined Lydney and now leads our percussion section, which has twice won the Haydn Evans Memorial Trophy for Best Percussion Section at the GBBA Own Choice Contest.

For David, banding is truly a family affair too! His husband, Tom, is part of our percussion team; his parents, Neil and Sarah are stalwarts of Lydney Town Band; and his brothers, Matt and Dan are Training Band alumni (Matt, himself played a key draconic role in our set at Wychavon last year!).

David is also a composer! Over the last year, you might have heard the band perform a number of David's original compositions and arrangements, including Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo, Gospel, and the recently debuted and supremely entertaining, Nightfall! 🎶

As ever we are really pleased to be supporting the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Janey popped over to Tesco Cinderford this afternoon to chat to Mark Evans Chairman of Royal British Legion Cinderford Branch. Tune in on Friday to the magazine show 6-8pm to hear the full interview plus a special poem written by Tilly Tingle and read by Zac.

In the meantime if you’re in the area don’t forgot to go and pick up your poppy or special souvenir pin (designed by Dave) from the RBL team 🙏
