One has to ask, with a kind of bewildered disbelief, whether this Labour government is actually governing for Britain at all, or whether it has taken a quiet secondment to Beijing. For all the rhetoric of “change” and “renewal,” what we actually see is a governing class skulking in shadows, ducking from transparency, and performing political contortions that Houdini himself would envy....
