Landslip near Fleswick Bay

We are advising the public to avoid the coastal footpath between Fleswick Bay and St Bees Promenade due to a partial landslip in the area.

Our team is currently putting a closure in place for this section of the path to ensure public safety.

Update on festive collections! 🎄🎅♻

• There will be no waste & recycling pickups on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day. Check the revised schedule in the attached image or visit here for more details: https://bit.ly/CumberlandWasteCollections.

• Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) remain open, except on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day. HWRCs close at 4pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. For more details visit: https://bit.ly/4rPiV1y

• Don't forget the 'recycling bring sites' across Cumberland, including supermarket car parks! Again no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day, but we're committed to regular emptying. Please avoid leaving items on the ground if bins are full, as this is classed as fly-tipping!

• Important: Enforcement Officers and CCTV are monitoring bring sites to help prevent fly-tipping. If bins are full, please kindly take items home, and bring back another day. Foil or glitter wrapping paper, polystyrene, and cellophane are non-recyclable; please dispose of them in general waste.

Cumbria Aid Ukraine Last trip of the year🎄

Cumbria Aid Ukraine saw off the last run of the year, sending essential supplies to the Ukraine..

Paul from Cumbria Aid Ukraine said’ Yesterday, we loaded Steve’s wagon for the third time this year as he heads back to Odesa—a 2000-mile journey. Onboard are essential items including a Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle from Eden Valley Hospice, over 860 Christmas Shoe Box Gifts, 1500kgs of wax for trench candles, 20 donated generators, 4 bunk beds from Appleby Rotary Club, and countless boxes of food, bedding, clothes, toys, sanitary products, and cleaning supplies.

A huge thank you to all who donated! Please visit their socials for the latest item needs. We appreciate the support from Penrith Lions, Penrith Parish Churches, and everyone who contributed towards transport costs.

Today we officially launched the first completed project in the £22.5 million Town Deal. The PEC Phase 3 building has undergone a full refurbishment as part of the Cleator Moor Town Deal ‘Revitalised Town’ scheme, creating a modern, accessible space for businesses and the community.

The transformation includes a new insulated roof with solar panels, upgraded power and data infrastructure, timber double-glazed windows, a lift for improved accessibility, fresh fixtures and decoration throughout, enhanced fire safety measures, and a cleaned and repointed exterior.

Delivered by Thomas Armstrong Group for Cumberland Council, with design by Day Cummins Ltd, this milestone marks the start of an exciting new chapter for Cleator Moor. The building, owned by Cumberland Council and leased to Phoenix Enterprise Centre (PEC), will welcome its first new tenants from January 2026.

Cleator Moor Town Deal secured an award of £22.5m from the Government's Towns Fund. Revitalised Town is one of four projects that make up the Cleator Moor Town Deal.
