Police are continuing to investigate a report of a serious sexual assault in Thringstone Woods on Thursday and a team of dedicated detectives and staff are working to identify and find the person responsible.
We are aware of community concern and speculation as police have not released a description of the person believed to be involved.
Detectives are continuing to speak with people who were in the area to try and ascertain an accurate description of the offender. This remains ongoing and we would ask people not to speculate or share misinformation that could obstruct our ongoing investigation.
Please be reassured that all lines of enquiry of being explored. This is a serious and concerning incident and remains a top priority for the force.
Officers continue to support the victim following this extremely traumatic incident.
Thank you to everyone who has assisted with our investigation so far.
We would continue to urge anyone who was in the woods on Thursday morning to contact us if they haven’t already spoken to an officer.
