At Deep Fried we have lots of connections from film and media industries and other networks both through Deep Fried Film Festival and our other work. Sharing this on behalf of one of our connections in case anyone can help out a new production .....
Hi, hope you’re doing well?
I’m reaching out because I am appealing to Scottish based business and organisations who might be able to help me with contributions.
We’ve recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for a short film called ‘Standing on the Bridge’ (https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/standingonthebridge #). It’s a dramatic film which focuses on the serious but under reported subject of male domestic abuse.
* Around one in three victims of domestic abuse are male*
* One in five men are a victim of domestic abuse at some stage of their lifetime*
* Less than half will tell a friend, family member or work colleague if they have been *abused by their partner
* Only 4.8% of male victims are being supported*
(*Figures from the Office for National Statistics)
We’re being supported by ‘The Mankind Initiative’ (https://mankind.org.uk), which is the UK’s largest charity for male domestic abuse survivors. They’ve checked the script to make sure it’s authentic and accurate. I’ve also go the support of ‘Abused Men in Scotland’ (https://mankind.org.uk), a Scottish charity supporting Scottish male domestic abuse survivors.
Creative Scotland is offering match-funding, which means they’ll match every donation up to £250. So, we’re getting double for each contribution, which is really making a difference.
We’ve had a fantastic start to the crowdfunding campaign, raising 60% of our target in the first two weeks! But we only have 30 days left to reach our target, or we lose everything (including the match funding from Creative Scotland) and the film won’t be made.
Our cast is lead by Chris Forbes, who has appeared in ‘Scot Squad’ for eight series as well as appearing in the Netflix hit ‘Dept Q’. Chris is supported by Kirsty Strain who has credits in ‘Outlander’, ‘Annika’ and ‘Guilt’. We have an equally talented crew working on the film including Simon Stolland who was the Director of Photography on the Danny Dyer film ‘Marching Powder’ which was released in cinemas earlier this year.
We’d love if you could take a look at our crowdfunding page and maybe contribute if you can - https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/standingonthebridge #
Every little bit helps, and we’d be really grateful for any contributions you can give!
Alternatively, if you know of anyone that might be in a position to support us, if you can pass on the link, that would be amazing.
Thanks in advance
Steve
