had a shocker of a night at the yestereve when a POWER CUT hit Colchester ⚡. Headliners cared not a s**t though and 'did an acoustic' on us instead! See images for awe and wonder AND Christmas cover!

played with ALL bulbs on, lucky folkers and pulled a beautifully rural, angsty set from their bag of leggy ferrets. saw the light and thrust us sideways with a set of raw gravelly power. Christmas lights tinkled to the incredible tones of , a growing force on the local scene and writer of melt-the-heart ballads.

Thanks to everyone who came along, helped light with your phones and sang along where necessary. Big love to ya. ❤

'MARIA, MY APOLOGIES'

'Maria, My Apologies', the latest addition to the catalogue is an interesting extension to his well-known live set and a thoughtful moment that shows growth in his writing. The full band backing coaxes a passioned performance from the Essex folk indie rock writer and the cyclic, metronomic chord patterns bring back memories of classic 2000s pop rock. "Oh Maria, your future isn't me'" Luke sings, possibly distancing himself from an admirer or obsessed friend but the title line "Maria, my apologies" isnt actually ever sung, suggesting the song's name is maybe a kind of quiet aside rather than the more predictable 'singalong bit'. There is a tinge of Americana in the country guitar slides and the middle eight is an uplifting alleyway back to a pensive final verse.

Luke's journey is still developing but it seems pretty clear that with a full band rocker like this, he will probably needs musicians to work with and pretty soon too.
