I have serious envy. It takes me far too long to finish a book. I miss the days (pre-children) where I could start and finish a book in a weekend. How long does it take you to read a book?

ps. I LOVE the idea of no phones or emails. What an interesting concept. Thoughts?

Our Non-Fiction book of the month has to be Mrs Hinch: The Activity Journal.

As all things Hinch, this book is HUGE at the minute. It is also currently half price on Amazon too, a perfect stocking filler.

Has anyone got this? What are your thoughts?

"This little book is all about giving yourself the gift of time out: time to plan, time to dream, time to relax, time for us to have a bit of a giggle and a de-stress.

Read from start to finish or dip in on random pages - there are absolutely no rules here! Think of it as a book-shaped slice of you time. You deserve it!"

In this modern world we are all becoming much more tech reliant. Our mobiles are our main method of communication and we rely heavily on laptops and tablets too. Tech has even made its way into our reading lives; with the likes of Kindle and Kobo e-readers making an appearance.

Whilst many are embracing digital books, there are those that think that they really cannot compare to the real thing. So, who wins in the war of reading? Let’s take a look at the benefits of both.

Kindles are much easier to carry around
Have you ever had an experience of heading off on holiday, only to find that you need to pack 5 different books, filling up your suitcase and making it harder to fit anything else in. The great thing about Kindles is that you can carry around a variety of books, all on one gadget, which means that you don’t have to worry about lugging lots of books around with you.

Books are something to treasure
Even if you are not a huge reader, chances are that you have a few books around your house that bring back memories of first reading them. You can treasure a book forever and whilst a digital book will last a good amount of time, it doesn’t have quite the same sentimental value.

Kindles will help you to read lots of different genres
When it comes to reading one of the problems is that we can get stuck in certain genres and types of books. Without knowing it, we are missing out on learning so much more and enjoying other types of books. Having a Kindle means that you will not only receive recommendations on the books you have read previously, but you will also see lots of bargains and books that might be slightly off your normal course.

You can borrow real books
One of the greatest things about a real book is that it is something that you can share with your friends and your families. If you have really enjoyed a book, then you are going to want to make sure that other people get the chance to read it. Of course, you can lend someone your e-reader should you want to, but this isn’t ideal. Whereas a paper book is something that you can pass to someone else to read and then bring back to you.

The thing that this blog post shows is that it really is hard to tell whether or not a kindle is better than a book. Both have their own benefits to keep in mind, as well as their drawbacks. Which means that it can be hard to pick a favourite and many people just end up having real books and digital books in their collection, bringing the best of both worlds.

The main thing to remember is that reading is a great way to spend some time. It doesn’t matter whether you choose to read digitally or whether you choose to read an old-fashioned book. So long as you are making the effort to read.

What are your thoughts? Kindle? Or traditional?
