This AD affects ALL SINGLE SEAT DG GLIDERS

What happened: On one DG-300, one of the control stick bearings separated completely, allowing the control stick to be lifted out. As far as DG know, this is the first and only time this has happened, but obviously, the stick falling off has the potential to be catastrophic.

The fix:
1. All gliders must have a new retaining plate fitted. This plate, in the event of a total bearing failure, will prevent the stick from detaching and retain some aileron and elevator control.
2. The two bearings at the base of the stick assembly must be inspected. If they exceed the acceptable play limits, then these bearings and their retaining rings must be replaced.

You’ve probably seen that TRIG released a brand-new transponder, the TT23 & TT23G, but what’s changed, and who is it for?

The TT23 addresses two main problems pilots have been facing:

First is size; just like its predecessor, the TT23 can be mounted remotely from the control head for a more flexible installation. The difference is the size of the transponder unit itself - it’s smaller and so easier to cram in when space is limited (as it often is). It can also do more within that smaller form factor - more on that below.

Second is complicated conspicuity integration. ADS-B is a whole can of worms that we’re not going to cover here, but we have an article about it. Check out using this link: navboys.com/electric-conspicuity-for-aviation.html

The short version is that a transponder needs GPS to produce an ADS-B out signal. Getting that feed into a transponder is... Well, often it's the opposite of quick and easy 🙃.

The TT23G has internal GPS 😊

So who’s it for? If you didn’t quite have enough room for a TT21/22 and/or you’d like a fully integrated ADS-B out solution without the headache, then check out the TT23G in our store

❗Those with OCD look away❗

Fun/Upsetting fact: the propeller on the Nimbus 3DT is asymmetric. Neither the gaps nor the lengths of the blades are equal.

We can't decide if this is upsetting or genius, so let us know in the comments.

✨ Hardwaxing feels like magic sometimes ✨

Even after cleaning the wings, there was still some discolouration, so out came the mop and look at the difference!

Could a glider fly from London Heathrow to Prague? Well, it's about 1000km, and that's exactly the distance Freddie Turner flew earlier this year.

Check out the interview below

Freddie Turner has achieved something epic this year; he's the youngest pilot to fly 1000km in the UK. An astonishing achievement, and in this episode we tal...
