Heatwave makeup over 50! 🔥
Skipped the foundation for Saie Glowy Super Gel in Starlight for that fresh, juicy skin.
Merit Bronze Balm to add a little warmth and shape.
Merit Flush Balm in Rouge for that just-back-from-holiday flush.
Finished with Violette_FR Lip nectar in Bêtise for the prettiest juicy lip.
Everything I used is clean, packed with skincare benefits, and feels beautifully lightweight on the skin and perfect for this heat.
I skipped eye makeup completely because my eyes have been feeling particularly sensitive lately, but proof that you don’t need a full face to look put together.
Fresh skin, flushed cheeks, glossy lips and out the door before the ice cream melts.

Would love to know your Heatwave Makeup hacks if you have any?

Many capsule wardrobes are built around generic lists that assume we all have the same lifestyle, body shape, climate and style preferences. But real life isn’t that simple.

One of the biggest style mistakes I made was buying clothes for a fantasy version of myself rather than the life I was actually living.

That’s exactly why I started this Style Series with a mood board.

For me, rediscovering my style in my 50s wasn’t about owning fewer clothes. It was about understanding what I genuinely love wearing and building a wardrobe that reflects who I am today.

The goal isn’t a perfect capsule wardrobe.

The goal is a wardrobe that works for you.

I’d love to know where you stand on this one. Are you a capsule wardrobe fan or do you prefer a more curated, personal approach?

And if you’ve enjoyed this Style Series, thank you for following along on my journey of rediscovering style in my 50s. There is so much more to come.

STYLE SERIES | PART 5

For years, I thought improving my style meant buying more clothes.

What I’ve learned is that some of the biggest style upgrades come from the finishing touches.

A great handbag, a belt, a watch, some simple jewellery or a pair of sunglasses can completely change how an outfit feels.

If you’re naturally drawn to a more minimalist style like I am, accessories become even more important. They add personality and polish without making an outfit feel overdone.

The difference between getting dressed and looking styled is often in those small details.

Once you’ve built a small collection of timeless accessories, it only takes a few seconds to elevate even the simplest outfit.

I’d love to know, what’s the accessory you never leave the house without?

And follow along for Part 6, where I’ll be sharing a slightly controversial opinion... why I don’t recommend a capsule wardrobe!

STYLE SERIES | PART 4

When I decided to revamp my style in my 50s, I made the mistake of thinking I needed a whole new wardrobe.

I rushed out and bought lots of new clothes and honestly, most of those pieces aren’t in my wardrobe anymore.

What actually worked was slowing down and building my wardrobe intentionally.

Instead of chasing trends, I focused on timeless pieces that worked with my lifestyle and could be styled multiple ways. Think a great wool coat, a trench, a blue shirt, quality denim and cashmere knitwear.

These days, before I buy anything, I ask myself one question:

Can I wear this in at least three different ways with what I already own?

If the answer is no, it stays in the shop.

Great style isn’t built in one shopping trip. It’s built piece by piece.

I’d love to know, what’s the item you can never resist buying?

And follow along for Part 5 where I’m sharing one of the most overlooked ways to elevate an outfit without buying more clothes.

STYLE SERIES | PART 3

For years, I thought my style struggles were about buying the right clothes.

What I’ve since learned is that it’s not just about the clothes you wear. It’s about understanding your proportions and creating balance in your outfits.

One of the biggest turning points in my style journey was learning which silhouettes, lengths and shapes worked best for me. Once I understood that, getting dressed became so much easier.

Whether it’s the cut of your jeans, the length of your jacket, the shape of your neckline or the proportions of an outfit, small changes can make a huge difference to how confident you feel.

And here’s the most important thing: this is about understanding your body, not changing it. Dressing it in a way that feels authentic, comfortable and stylish.

When you know what flatters your shape, you stop chasing trends and start building a wardrobe that truly works for you.

I’d love to know, have you ever thought about your proportions when putting an outfit together, or do you simply buy what catches your eye?

And if you’re enjoying this journey of rediscovering style in your 40s, 50s and beyond, follow along for Part 4 where I’ll share the timeless wardrobe pieces that earned a permanent place in my closet and the purchases I stopped making altogether.

STYLE SERIES | PART 2

One of the biggest reasons I felt stuck with my style in my 40s was that I had plenty of clothes but no real idea how to put outfits together.

What changed everything for me was learning outfit formulas.

Once I understood a few simple combinations that worked for my shape, proportions and lifestyle, getting dressed became so much easier. Instead of staring at my wardrobe wondering what to wear, I had reliable outfit formulas I could come back to again and again.

For me, some of those include double denim and a classic jeans and blazer combination. Simple, timeless and effortlessly stylish.

The truth is, confidence in your wardrobe doesn’t come from owning more clothes. It comes from understanding what works for you and knowing how to create outfits that make you feel like your best self.

If you’re on a style journey in your 40s, 50s or beyond, tell me in the comments: what’s your go to outfit formula?

And if you’re enjoying this series, follow along for Part 3 where I’ll be sharing how understanding your proportions and silhouette can completely transform the way you dress.

STYLE SERIES | PART 1

Have you ever stood in front of a wardrobe full of clothes and still felt like you had nothing to wear?

That was me throughout much of my 40s. I was buying clothes without a clear sense of my personal style, which left me with lots of pieces but very few outfits I actually loved wearing.

When I turned 50, I decided to stop treating it as a shopping problem and start treating it as a style project.

The first step? Creating a Pinterest mood board.

By saving outfits I could genuinely see myself wearing—not fantasy looks or trends that didn’t fit my lifestyle—I started to notice patterns in the colours, silhouettes and outfit formulas I was naturally drawn to.

That simple exercise gave me more clarity about my style than years of shopping ever had. It became the foundation of my wardrobe refresh and helped me rediscover confidence in how I dress in my 50s.

If you’re a woman in your 40s, 50s or beyond who’s feeling stuck with her style, I’d love to know: what’s your biggest wardrobe struggle right now?

Tell me in the comments 👇 and follow for Part 2 of my Style Series, where I’ll share the outfit formulas that completely changed the way I get dressed.

Everyday makeup at nearly 55

My eyes are feeling a little sensitive at the moment, so I skipped mascara today and focused on creating a fresh, healthy glow instead.

Think skin that still looks like skin, a touch of warmth, subtle definition and that sun-kissed, well-rested look we all love. This is easy makeup that enhances rather than hides.

If you’re looking for everyday makeup for mature skin, sensitive eyes or a natural glowy makeup look for women over 50, this is exactly the kind of routine I keep coming back to.

Do you wear less makeup in summer, or do you stick to your usual routine? Let me know below 👇
