A day on the coast, back where I should be 🌤️

A baltic 🥶 early morning hit and run this morning, making the most of a nice weather window with . We had just arrived to the reef we wanted to fish at, and I cast out to wet my braid, within 2 seconds this monster double figure pollack smashed it and took me for a right runaround. First drop. She must’ve eaten the lure within the top 3m of water column on this 14m deep reef…. A belter first fish for 2026. This big girl was absolutely rammed full of roe… standard for this time of year so of course she was sent back on her way…We ended the session with some bait collecting chasing shoals of sardines and anchovy which was great fun surrounded by feeding gannets. Definitely made the icy start worth it!

Really great to have the tuna back in Cornwall. After a few quiet years, they’re starting to return in bigger numbers, chasing bait along the coast and giving the waters a proper buzz. Always a highlight seeing them breaking the surface while out fishing a reminder of how alive the sea can feel when these giants are around

Always nice when these guys come over for a bit of a play around the boat. Proper highlight of a session seeing dolphins move through the same water we’re fishing, just doing their thing and making the most of it. One of those moments that makes you stop what you’re doing for a minute and enjoy it.

Nature’s fisherman, no rod needed. Mad to watch something so stunning work the same water we fish, just with a very different setup 🎣 lightning fast dives, unreal eyesight, and a success rate most of us can only dream of 🤣

A photo we forgot to post after our weekend at the Cornwall Lure Festival. I managed a 60cm fish on the first night of the comp, absolutely braving the quite honestly miserable conditions 🤣 hammering rain and horrific wind were persistent, but we stuck it out. This fish wasn’t quite enough to place, but did get me very close. A well done to everyone who fished that weekend as it certainly was not easy conditions to fish… this one was taken on a shallow diver 🐟

A couple cracking silver bars out on a mates boat earlier in the week. Was quiet on the livebaits but these both smashed a .fishing lure tight to the bottom and had the light gear working overtime… Brilliant sport and some beautiful looking fish 😍🎣
