NEW TO RUNNING
If you’re new to running it can be daunting knowing what you may need to help you along your running journey.
There are 3 things we would recommend looking into:
🏃🏼♀️Suitable clothing. Clothing for exercising doesn’t have to be expensive and there are brands and shops for all budgets, and many of us have something suitable in our closets already. The clothing should be moisture wicking so that it reduces the chance of chaffing. It should also fit well, clothes that are too big or too small can cause discomfort and rub on the skin causing soreness.
👟Running trainers should be ones designed for running. Your athleisure trainers, converse or gardening trainers are unlikely to provide you with the support or comfort that you need when increasing mileage or time on your feet. Ideally running trainers should usually be at least half a size bigger than your normal shoe but this can vary brand to brand. Running shoes are also designed for the biomechanics of running so aren’t ones for doing heavy lifting in the gym in, as this damages the foot bed and support structure of the shoe.
👙A high impact sports bra is a must. It helps keep everything in place, helps with posture and reduces the chances of back pain. There are two main types- compression and encapsulation. Which one you choose is down to preference, fit, body shape and comfort.
