Could this lead to more money for community councils?

Fair Funding Review for Community Councils

I was pleased to move an amendment to the Scheme of Establishment for Community Councils, securing a fair funding review for community councils administrative grants.

The current grant of a flat £400 with an additional 12p per elector has not been reviewed for over 10 years, while the expectations on and workload of community councils have continued to balloon.

Since being elected, I have heard feedback from both local community councils and from many across Fife that a review is long overdue.

I was pleased that the amendment (below) was unanimously agreed by the Council and I encourage all community councils, and constituents, to provide input into the review when launched to ensure Councillors can consider a wide range of views when a report is brought back.

"agrees that the revised Scheme of Establishment and associated documents as set out in Appendix 5 be formally adopted by Fife Council, subject to officers carrying out a further review of sustainable funding models for Community Councils, in consultation with Community Councils, to ensure that the administrative costs and functions can be met, with a report to a future meeting of Fife Council to consider future options."

BANK ST REOPENING 19th DEC

Fife Council has confirmed that Bank Street in Lochgelly will re-open tomorrow (Friday) as work to demolish the fire damaged former cinema continues.

The building in Lochgelly's town centre was severely damaged by fire in November and work to demolish it has been going on since. In the interests of public safety an exclusion zone was put in place with traffic lights on Bank Street and the pavement closed off.

Now, as the demolition work nears completion, the council has confirmed it is safe to re-open the road, although the pavement will still be out of bounds.

Garry Nicol, the council's service manager for building standards and public safety thanked local people for their patience while the work was carried out. He said: "We have a statutory duty to act if a building is dangerous and after the fire, the building posed an immediate danger to the public.

"As the building was unstable, an exclusion zone had to be put in place until the work is finished and I'm delighted that we're now able to relax this before Christmas."

Demolition work is expected to be completely finished by the end of January.

🎄 Alan Stott Legacy Fund – Supporting Our Local Primary Schools 🎄

We’re delighted to share how the Alan Stott Legacy Fund has helped support Christmas activities for children across Cowdenbeath’s three primary schools this year ❤️

Thanks to the fund, we’ve been able to support activities that benefit all pupils and add a bit of extra joy to the end of term:

🎉 Foulford Primary School
• Support towards Christmas class parties

🎭 St Bride’s RC Primary School
• Support towards the Christmas pantomime outing

🎶 Cowdenbeath Primary School
• Support towards musical instruments and equipment to enhance Christmas performances and future school events

It’s lovely to be able to support opportunities that bring pupils together, create shared experiences, and leave a lasting positive impact within our local schools.

A big thank you to the staff in all three schools for everything they do for our young people, all year round 💙

Click the link to write a letter to your politicians to let them know that the current SFRS proposals do NOT make us safer and that the fire service needs real investment from Scottish Government.

Share with your friends, family, dog walker, bowls club, neighbours, football chat ... Anyone and everyone that wants to see our Fire Service and Fire fighters valued and funded.

It is always a pleasure to join the Happy Days Christmas Party in Kelty Community Centre and thank Danny, Vicky and all the volunteers for all the work they do all year round with this amazing club that provides a gathering for children and adults from across Fife to come together and socialise. A great party over 200 people with a buffet, lots of laughs and dancing
