For anyone looking at social media feeling like their life doesn’t measure up to everything that they see, listen up.

Today I’ve got a bad headache and my lazy left eye is more droopy than usual

The pile at the bottom of the stairs has been walked by 1000 times this weekend. Including the bleach bottle that desperately needs to be used upstairs. 🤪

The utility room is an endless pile of laundry, screws, recycling, paintbrushes and anything else anyone wants to dump.

The floor needs painting and our muddy dogs make a right mess at the back door. It’s almost not worth painting or even cleaning because it will look like this again in 24 hours.

My desk is one big pile of paper and actually today there’s only one empty can. That’s a win.

And that’s just scratching the surface. But I’ll go get dressed and take a swanky picture of me in my nice outfit for you to look at next Sunday. I’ll hide the washing up out of view 😉 (actually if you look at last Sunday’s fashion roundup, you will see the big pile of Domino’s Pizza boxes in the background!)

Don’t compare your life to a random stranger on the Internet. No one is perfect, no one’s got it all sorted, not even those swanky seven figure type selling their latest course.

Have a great week x

Imagine kids today doing that?

My favourite Debbie Harry with John Waters at the Vanity Fair party earlier this month. Wearing Gucci, she is still my absolute number one style icon. And 79, I so want to be her when I grow up!

Did you know you don’t have to walk 10,000 steps a day in order to be healthy?

10,000 is literally a number dreamt up by the man who designed the pedometer. Yet we are all obsessed by it.

What makes me mad about this is not everybody can walk 10,000 steps a day and the narrative that I see that they are just simply lazy if they don’t.

The most important thing is to just move as much as you can. Especially as you age. If you want to increase your steps per day track what your current step count is and set yourself a goal to increase it without being obsessed about the magic 10 K.

how many steps do you walk per day?

Let’s celebrate ALL ageing women this International Women’s Day 🩷

In the UK and US, aging women are often made invisible – pushed out of the spotlight, ignored in workplace and told to fight aging. But in many cultures, getting older is a privilege, not a problem.

For example:
In Japan, turning 60 is a fresh start.
In Ghana, elders are respected as wise advisers.
In India, later life is seen as a time for self discovery.
In South Korea, a 60th birthday is a major celebration.

Aging isn’t something to hide – it’s something to own. This IWD, let’s rewrite the narrative.

WOMEN DON’T FADE, WE RISE.

Tag an inspiring woman who proves age is power or that needs to hear this today.

What year would you choose?

And yes, I’m well aware that the clocks go forward not back in spring but it’s just a bit of fun! 🤪

I’ve been a fan of Laura Dern since the early 1990s when I discovered her through the films of David Lynch. I studied drama and English at university and my dissertation was on how David Lynch subverts the cinematic genre. I spent hours and hours watching his films and that of course included included Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart - Laura starred in both. The latter is one of my all-time favourite films.

Laura is 58 today. And still as brilliant as she ever was. Happy birthday, Laura Dern.
