Now that the inductii are finished, it’s time to move on to my next project.

These six grav bastards (myrmidon secutors) are going to be my main anti dread movement unit and should be a nice anchor unit at the centre of my army.

I’ve got about two weeks to get these guys finished as they’re going to be in my army for the upcoming. Brighton heresy VI.

I made the effort to finish the inductii before I get too distracted by new toys.

These guys came out incredibly bright and that’s exactly what I was hoping for. It’s a huge departure from the normal metallic purple I use for this army, and they should really stand out in the battlefield.

Next up is more mechanicum, which I need to get ready in preparation for Brighton heresy 6 at the end of the month.

I played an iron warriors gunline and got tabled by turn three. so it might need some re-working. 😂

Took about 15 hours of painting, but the greater brass scorpion is finished.

This has been a great project to paint, it has a fantastic silhouette and there’s loads of space to play with battle damage and weathering.

I think this is in the top five largest models I’ve painted, it’s significantly bigger than a knight and probably larger than a baneblade.

Im also really happy with the orange stripe. It breaks up the model nicely and contrasts well with the green.

I spent this afternoon retrofitting my reaver to have magnetised weapons. I’m planning on getting a Warbringer Nemesis titan in the new year and it makes sense to make the arm weapons interchangeable.

I have to admit that chiselling into the resin to make space for the magnets was pretty nerve wracking.

I genuinely don’t understand why magnets are so satisfying.

There’s still lots to do, but I think I’d be happy I’m using it in a game at this point.

Recently, I’ve been on a daemon engine kick. I’ve really enjoyed working on this brass scorpion for my mechanicum army. It’s a beautiful model although that trim is a massive chore.

Still, I think it’s a welcome addition to heresy and I can’t wait to use it in a game.

Today, I had the pleasure of organising the third 'Betrayal at Crawley'

We had three people who, for various reasons, weren't able to make it today, so to avoid anyone having to sit out of a game, I quickly made an army from whatever was in my case. To avoid any hard feelings, everyone I played got at least a minor win, unless they scored higher, and I did not claim any points. That being said, I think it’s a bit of an insult to play to lose, so while my army was a bit of a mix of whatever was still in my case, I still played to win.

I had an archmagos, a magos dominus, a pair of domitars, three units of 6 thallax, a decimator and a thanatar. I was representing for the traitors.

My first game was against a guy called Dan. He had salamanders. We were playing on the woodland table with the webway portal in the middle. He had some very bad luck with the decimator, which chased off his terminators and praetor and then went on to kill a contemptor, a tactical squad and a volkite heavy support squad. Turns out the malefic artifice rule on a t7 2+ save model makes it almost immune to volkite squads. The game ended with a 3-1 win for me.

My second game was against a proper arse called Tom. He had imperial fists. We were playing on the trench board and I had a very lucky time in the first turn. I seized the initiative and my first shot had the thanatar blow up a land raider. The Templar brethren inside lost one model.

My thallax killed a second templat brethren and he then made the mistake of saying something along the lines of “this has been a bad turn for me. You’ll probably kill one more and make them run off the board now”.

I had my domitars left to fire who took a pair of bs3 krak missile pot shots at the Templars, killing one. Tom then promptly rolled an 11 on his leadership test and they ran off the board.

That meant he had to hold his own objective with his second Templar brethren squad.

By the end I had 3 vps and attrition and he had 4 vps. Making it a 4-4 draw.

My third game was against Blake, who had come all the way from Scarborough. He had a loyalist iron warriors/mechanicum combo.

We were on the bastion board with extremely varied objectives (between 0-4 vps and possibly exploding).

He had first turn and instantly removed my thanatar with tyrant of the lysatra iron havocs. He actually killed all my heavy hitters in the first couple of turns, leaving me with just thallax.

In the end, I’d scored 2vps from claiming an objective. He scored no victory points from objectives, but he did kill my warlord, kill a unit in the first turn and had attrition for 3 vps, making it a 2-3 win to him.

It was a bit stressful playing and running an event with eight bespoke missions, there were definitely more rules questions than normal, but all the players were great. Even Tom.

All three of my opponents were very patient with me half speed playing to make sure the game finishes and half running away to take photos, record scores and answer rules queries.

It was really nice to play on tables I own but barely get to play on, particularly the woodland board which I’m really happy with.

Still, I think for my own sanity, I’d rather just organise things.

That’s the fire support element for my imperialis militia finished (for now). Thats two field guns with thunderblast cannons, two field guns with heavy lascannons and two squads of 6 lascannon fire support squads.

For the same of clarity, ther reason behind the variant colour schemes is threefold;

Firstly this army is going to be massive. So it’ll help myself and my opponent determine which unit is which in game.

Secondly I quite like the idea of different elements of a planet’s military coming together and therefore different uniforms and equipment being on show.

Thirdly, with a potential 200 models, I do t want to drive myself mad painting the same scheme over and over again.

That’s my little pack of daemon engines finished. I’m really happy with how they’ve come out, I very much doubt this will be the last of them. I’m already contemplating another blood slaughterer, and a brass scorpion is more than tempting.

Got a lot of work done on the blood slaughterers.

I really like the idea of these being very early versions of what you see in the 41st millennium. So while they are obviously corrupted engines, they carry the colours of my mechanicum army rather than being a khornate red. There will be some blood on the finished models though. They are called ‘blood slaughterers’ after all.

Got lots of motivation this evening and finished the decimator.

Im incredibly pleased with how it’s come out. My intention was to make it look like something that was manufactured as an automata and possessed afterwards.

This kit is well over a decade old but it really does hold up, the areas of chaotic mutation were incredibly fun to paint and there’s loads of empty space for transfers and other iconography.

This model takes a highly valuable heavy support slot and it cannot be taken as part of a talon, so I very much doubt I’ll be buying a second copy of this model.

Going to paint the blood slaughterers next and then onto some more militia.
