From our RH Roast Review: Oak Barn Bar and Restaurant

A 250-year-old barn brings instant character to Sunday lunch.

This Burgess Hill venue delivers generous roast portions in atmospheric surroundings - exposed beams, countryside views, and authentic historic architecture. The consistency keeps locals returning specifically for Sunday roasts they know will deliver every time, with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients showing in every plate. Traditional Sunday roasts served as part of a two or three-course meal.

From our RH Roast Review: Missing Link Brewing

"The first rule of roast club is...don't have any breakfast that morning."

This isn't your typical Sunday lunch - it's an event. Everyone dines together in one sitting (no rush to free up tables!), four-course feast arrives sharing-style with locally-sourced meats from the 320-acre estate and award-winning craft beers to match. Help-yourself cheeseboard to finish if you've got room. Dates announced via social media and snapped up incredibly quickly.

From our RH Roast Review: The Talbot Cuckfield

Ranked #1 in Cuckfield on TripAdvisor and drawing diners from across the area - this High Street gastropub has earned serious local devotion.

Consistently excellent roasts with beef cooked properly, generous portions, and trimmings that show real attention to detail. Staff service consistently earns praise with that balance of professionalism and warmth that makes dining feel effortless. Head Chef Giuseppe Filocamo's focus on local ingredients shows in every plate.

Know a local community space that could do with a facelift?

Because this dream team of local people are ready to donate their time and skills into another project that needs them.

Just look at what they did for the computer room at The Strawford Centre - an adult day centre in Horsham. Every bit freely donated. From fresh paint to a stunning bespoke artwork, the transformation is complete.

Big shout out to Katie at Make Room to Breathe who instigated the whole thing 👏

And to the rest of the team - Paul Lidbury "Paul the Painter", Sarah at Brewers Decorator Centres in Horsham, local artist Rachel Wood at Yellow Boot Projects and Liz at Sussex Blue Designs, who generously gave their time and talents for free.

From our RH Roast Review: The Boars Head

“Famous for Sunday Lunch" isn't just marketing here - this traditional Horsham pub has built its reputation on consistently good roasts made with locally sourced seasonal ingredients.

Expect proper pub atmosphere, generous portions, and the kind of Sunday lunch that keeps regulars returning week after week. Dogs aren't just welcome - they're properly made a fuss of, making it perfect for four-legged family members. That reliable, comfortable familiarity that makes Sunday lunch feel like coming home.

The Phoenix Bar & Restaurant serves quality roasts overlooking the Griffin golf course with panoramic views through floor-to-ceiling windows. The setting feels special without any stuffiness, making it perfect for treating yourself without formality. Beautiful views, quality food, and relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel like a regular from your first visit.

From our RH Roast Review:

Good Food Guide Top 50 pub. 16th-century village setting. Book weeks ahead.

This West Hoathly pub has earned national recognition, and the Sunday roasts live up to it - meat cooked properly, trimmings show real care. When a pub earns national acclaim and locals still rate it just as highly, you know it's the real thing. Low beams, roaring fires, and that warm, cosy atmosphere you want from a proper village pub.
