Radio Leighton Radio Leighton broadcasts twenty four hours a day to patients in Leighton Hospital. We broadcast everything from classical to world music, rock, soul and jazz.

Leighton Radio is a voluntary based organisation located at Leighton Hospital and broadcasts 24 hours a day playing a broad range of musical programs to suit all tastes. The organisation is run entirely by volunteers who all have a passion for providing the highest quality programming for the patients at Leighton Hospital. We are dedicated to provide high quality music, performance and public affa

irs programming in order to inform, educate, entertain and inspire the patients that make up our audience. We prides ourselves on offering a diverse range of programmes that represent the unique characteristics, beliefs, interests and values of our listening audience. We also have live football match commentary from Gresty Road, the home of Crewe Alexandra for mid week and Saturday games. Is free to listen to for patients through the Hospedia Channel 1 console and Channel 14 from your bedside. And we are currently celebrating 47 years of broadcasting!

For Radio Leighton's 50th birthday back in Nov 2018, I (Anglea McCully-Jackson) wrote a piece for a Crewe Alexandra matchday program, celebrating the link between football and hospital radio. It has never appeared since, so I updated it and posted on my blog today. Crewe Alex v Bromley will be the last game broadcast to patients, but our commentary team will still provide a service for the visually impaired fans attending games.

On a visit to The Di**le School in Haslington to record them for a Tree of Lights in Sandbach they held their Christmas Concert. As one of the teachers was leaving at the end of term I recorded the concert for her and was so impressed we have decided to make this our final Carol Service on Hospital Radio Leighton. So if in Hospital please enjoy this wonderful concert.

Since 1967 there has been a Hospital Radio Station in Crewe. Unfortunately the time has come to pull down the faders on the station for the final time on the 5 January 2025. We wish all current and past listeners all the best for the future and to all 440 plus presenters and technical staff we thank every one of you.
