🚨 Community Alert: HMRC Phone Scam 🚨

Today, we received a mobile phone call from someone pretending to be HMRC. The call began with a pre-recorded message claiming that a letter had been returned and that legal action was being taken, urging us to press a button to speak to someone.

This is a scam.
⚠️ HMRC will never call from a mobile number.
⚠️ They will not threaten legal action over the phone or through automated messages.

Please stay vigilant if you receive a call like this.
✅ Do not press any buttons or provide personal details.
✅ If you’re unsure, hang up immediately and contact HMRC directly using the official number on their website.
✅ If you do speak to someone, you can ask for their name — but always verify by calling HMRC yourself.

These scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated and are designed to manipulate and intimidate people into sharing information or making payments.

🚨 Cybersecurity Reminder! 🚨

Last night, someone tried to hack into my GitHub account — I knew right away because I got 3 text messages with authentication codes within just 5 minutes. Thankfully, they didn’t get in… all thanks to two-factor authentication (2FA). 🙌

This is a perfect reminder of how important it is to have 2FA enabled on all your online accounts — not just the obvious ones like email or banking, but also your developer tools, social media, and cloud services.

With 2FA turned on, even if someone gets your password, they still need that extra code from your phone or app — which makes breaking in a lot harder.

🔒 Stay safe out there, folks.
Turn on 2FA wherever you can — it only takes a minute and could save you a massive headache later!

WOW. What a productive first couple of hours of today.

Finally got the icon working in the sidebar. This has been bugging me for the last couple of weeks. As I mentioned before, the documentation isn't great so get this working is a massive achievement in my eyes.

Now that bug bear has goine, I can concentrate on the rest of the package.

I’ve started on the next stage for AW-Entertainments.

Now the website is optimised for search engines and bookings are coming through, it’s time to get a CRM implemented.Ive worked with a CRM called vTiger in the past, however I’ve found an alternative built on the Laravel framework.

It’s called KrayinCRM.

The CRM is really good out-of-the-box but it’s still limited which is why I’ve been teaching myself how to create custom packages the last couple of weeks.

Sadly, the documentation is not the best, so I’ve had to delve into the core code to see how packages work. After quite a few headaches, I’ve actually got most of a custom package built for AW Entertainments which is a booking module that convert a quote to a booking.

I’ve also got to create a custom quote module so when someone completes a quote form on the website, the form details are sent to the CRM using REST APIs.

Hoping to get this completed soon but there are 11 forms so fingers crossed, shouldn’t be that difficult once I have one form working.

All the hard work I've put into AW-Entertainments website has finally paid off.

I've had to compress and resize images quite heavily and stripped out all the unused styles to make the site load faster.

At Culm Forge Media, we love helping local businesses shine online — and that means making their websites fast. Recently, we worked with AW Entertainments to boost their Google PageSpeed Insights score, and the results were incredible.

Here’s what we did:
1️⃣ Optimised Images – Compressed and converted to WebP for lightning-fast loading without losing quality.
2️⃣ Minified Code – Trimmed unnecessary HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for a leaner, quicker site.
3️⃣ Enabled Browser Caching – Repeat visitors now load the site almost instantly.
4️⃣ Reduced Unused Scripts – Only the essentials load, cutting down on wasted resources.
5️⃣ Performance Tweaks – Fine-tuned hosting and delivery for speed across all devices.

📊 The Result? A faster, smoother experience for AW Entertainments’ customers — and a boost in search engine performance.

And there’s still room for more improvement. A bit more trimming the unused CSS will bring the performance up even further. Just a little more optimising and we’ll be there.

This is a perfect example of what I want to teach vunerable people what to look out for regarding scammers.

I recieved an email with a PayPal invoice for $499 for a payment for Bitcoin and they were asking if they think the payment was authorised by me anbd if not to contact them. This was today at 6.14pm. What gave it it away was the sender's email address which was a gmail account and the file was attached from the C:/ drive file:///C:/Users//874 Y. Roberson.

Seriously, make some effort!!!! And a scammer pretending to care that it was a genuine transaction adds insult to injury. That was before opening the so called PayPal invoice.

I looked at the invoice and it clearly doesn't address me by my name, but using my email and the helpline number isn't even a UK number.

Just be very wary if you ever receive one of these phishing emails.

A little update on my SEO audit for AW-Entertainments.

Quite happy with the results so far. It’s amazing to think how much affects SEO like image file sizes.

I’ll be happy to when I’m closer to 100 for both mobile and desktop.

Been a very interesting learning journey.

I recently performed an SEO audit on AW-Entertainments website and I found a lot of improvements to be made.

It’s taken me a few days, but I have been updating all the content to include keywords used in searches.

I ran the same check again and I can now tick off all the suggested page edits. A couple pages left and I’ll be ready to republish all the pages and to run a SEO audit again.

I’ll be very happy if I get a decent score and hopefully won’t have much to do. Been an enjoyable and insightful journey.
