Thank you to all those who came along to my surgeries this evening. All issues raised with me have now been reported to council officers to investigate and resolve, including concerns in relation to housing, education, drainage and flooding, waste and litter, environmental health, and parking. My Seafar and Kildrum surgeries will take place on Wednesday 26th November.

PRIDE IN PLACE FUNDING PROGRAMME

I have today written to Douglas Alexander, Secretary of State for Scotland calling on him to consider Cumbernauld and Kilsyth for the UK Government’s Pride in Place Funding Programme.

This funding, if granted, could see an up to £20 million invested into the area allowing for local regeneration projects to take place and much-loved community assets to be restored whilst providing residents and community groups the opportunity to directly input on how this money is spent.

I have concerns that the UK Labour Government has attempted to bypass devolution in its failure to meaningfully engage with the Scottish Government on this Programme and is short-changing Scottish communities by comparison to the EU funding it is supposed to replace, just as the previous Conservative Government did, investment into Cumbernauld and Kilsyth is something I will pursue.

A copy of the letter I sent can be found in the image below and I will be sure to post any updates as and when I receive these.
