Wow. What a marvellous evening this turned out to be. Torfaen Male Choir, with their guests, The Linden Singers & Ukranian soloist Maryna Korolova, entertained a packed audience at Llanyrafon social club. The audience were treated to over 2 hours of varied music, some traditional, some modern in several different languages. Maryna sang 2 traditional Ukranian songs in each half, that were so emotional that there was barely a dry eye in the house but finished with a rousing, clapping, joyful celebration, that the whole audience could join in with. The concert was to raise money for Ukranians, directly caught up in the front line of the conflict and we are overjoyed to announce, that tickets sales, a raffle and donations raised £951 on the night. 2 generous donations from within the choir rounded the GRAND TOTAL UP TO £1,000. We have been told that the money will be used to purchase solar rechargeable power packs as the power infrastructure is continually under attack. The choir would like to thank Llanyrafon social club, (who did not charge us for the room as it was for such a good cause). The excellent Linden Singers & Maryna Korolova for their superb performances along with TMC Ladies committee who organised the event. Finally to all those who attended, bought tickets, gave donations or helped in any other way. THANK YOU. Torfaen Male Choir's next performance will be a remembrance concert in aid of the British Legion Poppy Appeal. This will take place at the Baptist Chapel on Crane Street Pontypool, commencing at 7pm on Thursday November 12th. We will be joined on that evening by the ladies choir Melody and the choir of Griffithstown Junior School. Entrance £5 pay on the door, (under 16s free). All welcome.
