IMPORTANT NOTICE: As most of you know, after 52 years of operation, our physical shop and business are now closed, and we are also updating our website. It's not closing, just changing to reflect our current situations. However, we would still like to keep in touch with the many friends we have made over those years, so, of course, this page, our lovely non-commercial Facebook group, Gurutribe Forever, will remain online and accessible, as will our other page, Guru's Goodies, and, as stated above, our website. However, they will all be different to how they are now.
We also still have a small amount of stock available on our website. Please either buy it there or contact us by telephone on 01325 461479. We have also given, or are going to give/donate, some suitable items of our stock to worthwhile charities and individuals. We have a large stock of cultural cards that may be of use to any churches, temples, synagogues, or gurdwaras that could use them. There will be no charge for these cards, as we want them used.
As for the future, even though our business is wound down, our creative period may just be starting - watch out for news and publications related to Darlington and to Guru Boutique...

P.S. Please keep in touch because we love you, Beryl, Tony and Colin (the Gurus). ###

What a difference a Dave made... This is Dave, one of the stars of our charity calendar in aid of Brysons Animal Shelter, Gateshead. Dave's dad (musician Mattie Ramone) kindly allowed us to use Dave's photo in our calendar. Mattie says that Dave was a massive help in getting him through treatment for cancer, which we are pleased to say was successful. Thanks, Mattie and thanks, Dave. If you would like to buy the calendar and help animals in need, please go to our website or message us here. Thanks, Beryl and the Gurus. https://guruboutique.co.uk/products/2026-calendar-in-aid-of-brysons-animal-shelter

Guru Boutique’s Story

The spirit of Guru Tribe (which is the driving force behind Guru Boutique), flickered into life around 1969/70 when Guru’s Beryl (after first discovering Kensington High Street and other wonders of London around that life-changing time), attended a legendary music festival on the Isle Of Wight.

Inspired by what she experienced there and had already discovered in ‘swinging’ London, she shared her revelations with her Mam (Irene) and Dad (Rupert). After her parents had also taken a few trips down to London to see for themselves what all the fuss was about, they totally ‘got it’ too.

It became clear what direction the future should take if at all possible. The aim had to be to bring some of this fantastic vibe back to their home town, Darlington.

After a couple of aborted attempts, which resulted in Rupert dropping out of the little trio Irene and Beryl stuck with the dream and by some miracle, in March 1972 Guru Tribe acquired more permanent bricks and mortar premise and Guru Boutique was established.
