Your SEO action point for all the brick and mortar businesses - If you work from home, feel free to have a break this week.

If you have a clinic, office, therapy space, room or shop outside of your home where clients and customers are expected to visit, you need to connect your business to Google Maps.

Google Maps is your starting point to your local SEO strategy. It’s an easy way clients and customers can find you and once connected to your Google Business Profile - Google will automatically direct them to your door.

So it’s so important that your Google Pin is placed in the correct place. 📍

In some instances, this can be extremely timely as Google will need to verify your exact location. For most though, it can be done quite quickly.

And once it’s done, unless you move, it’s usually done!

I was on a call recently with the lovely Nicole who is passionate about seeing parent and child businesses showcase ways they can support children with additional needs.

If you have a parent and child business (health or otherwise) The answer to this quote needs to be shown in your marketing - your website, your socials, your newsletter, your email signature. Everywhere!

This will help build trust with potential clients. It reassures them that you can help and have the knowledge and expertise to do so.

Very excited to share that I will be a Small Business Mentor for for the chosen businesses this year and as part of the campaign!

Having a small business in this current climate is hugely challenging and small businesses need all the help and tools available to them for the best chance of success.

Understanding how to market yourself in our new digital world is fundamental to survive as a small business owner now - so that you can learn to do it yourself or delegate to someone who can.

Week 5 already!
Last week may have been a bit lengthy depending on the size of your website so for this week we’re keeping it simple again - check your Google Business Profile.

Check what your Google Business Profile says about you and make sure it is all up to date and correct.

In particular check the following:

🌟Contact information - address, telephone number, email, socials
🌟Opening hours
🌟Business description
🌟Services offered
🌟Images

The above information is key when showing up in searches.

If you don’t have a Google Business Profile, please use this week to create one or delegate to someone who can.

November = Men’s Health Awareness Month. is a great campaign you may have heard of which raises awareness about a number of topics including mental health and prostate cancer.

10th November - Forget Me Not Day championed by and

13th November - World Kindness Day does what it says on the tin. Use hashtags

17th - 23rd November - Self Care Week is a great time to promote wellness services.

17th November - World Prematurity Day - Head to for more information on their Little Lights Walk.

19th November - International Men’s Day - Tie this in with Men’s Health Month.

Your Week 4 SEO action point explained….

Look through your website in the eyes of a customer.

Do the pages do as they say? Do the buttons and links work? Are the pictures clear and load well. Is the website quick? Is it easy to contact you and are your contact details up to date?

Make a list of all the things you would like to change if you could.

It’s so important that your website functions properly but also flows well so a customer or client stays on your website.

Brighton SEO! You were a joy!

My inner geek was literally loving life last week as I listened to talks by University Lecturers, Computer Science Experts, App developers and Fellow Marketers.

The main topic was - you guessed it - Ai!

So a new term for you….GEO Generative Engineer Optimisation. How you get seen through new AI search!

But before you panic - it’s not something to be feared and actually, focussing on your website and core SEO as a foundation is going to help you hugely. Your SEO Action Point Week 3

Google doesn’t want to recommend a website that isn’t secure. It doesn’t want to recommend a website that can’t be trusted. There’s lots of factors to this but the small action for you to do is to check your website has a SSL (security) certificate.

You can easily check this by typing your URL and seeing if a padlock displays next to it or if comes up as ‘not secure’ in which case, you will need to get one!

Did you see this in the news?

A popular children’s book series has had all copies paused from publication because the website directing parents and children for extra book content had been changed to show explicit content.

We received an email from our school about it as did many across the UK to return any books. Libraries and shops have also been notified.

This will most likely have a huge impact on future sales of the books.

So why did this happen? 2 potential reasons.

1) The website got hacked and replaced with inappropriate content

2) The owner of the domain let the website domain lapse allowing another owner to buy it and build on it.

Either way, the lesson here is that it’s so important to keep your website secure and to keep on top of your domain renewal date. Week 2 of my SEO action points is to find out and diarise when your domain renews to stay on top of it.

Your SEO action point week 2…

So now you’ve found your login details for your website and domain name. Now you must diarise some important dates.

Make a note in your diary the following:

When your domain URL needs renewing
When your website hosting needs renewing

Both can be with the same company or two different companies. Go Daddy is an excellent example if you’re not sure where to check but there are many out there.

I host many websites that I build on and for any new website you will receive 1 year’s free hosting. Just make sure you make a note of when the year is up (don’t worry I will also send you a reminder!)
