Annual Woodford Halse Regatta: a Day of Family Fun and Entertainment

The much-loved Woodford Halse Regatta returns this summer, Saturday 11th July, once again transforming the village into a vibrant celebration of community spirit, creativity and family entertainment.

Drawing residents and visitors alike, the annual event has become a highlight of the local calendar, with participants eagerly taking part in the famous homemade boat race. Each year competitors design and decorate their vessels around a chosen theme before navigating the course in pursuit of regatta glory. For 2026, entrants will embrace the colourful world of cartoon characters, promising an afternoon filled with imagination, laughter and spectacular ‘floating’ creations.

The regatta offers excitement for all ages, with both children's and adult boat races taking place throughout the evening. Adult teams can choose between two, three or four-person boats, creating an entertaining contest of teamwork, ingenuity and determination as crews battle for victory.

Festivities begin from 4pm, when community groups and stallholders line Station Road, creating a bustling atmosphere at the heart of the village. Visitors will be able to browse local stalls, enjoy refreshments and soak up the welcoming spirit that has made the event such an enduring success.

Live music will be provided, setting the soundtrack for the evening's celebrations, while refreshments will be available courtesy of The Fox & Hounds, Charwelton. Tea and coffee will also be served from Woodford Halse Memorial Hall, offering a warm welcome to spectators throughout the event.

The first boat race is scheduled to begin at 5.30pm, marking the start of an evening packed with entertainment, friendly competition and community pride.

This year's regatta is proudly supported by primary sponsor Laurence Tremayne, whose sponsorship helps ensure the continued success of one of Woodford Halse's most cherished community events.

Whether cheering from the sidelines, supporting local businesses, or taking to the track in pursuit of victory, attendees can look forward to a memorable celebration that showcases the very best of village life.
