🚨 HIRING: DEAL DESPATCH EDITOR 🚨
After several issues at the helm of Deal Despatch, our editor Maya will be leaving us after the Summer issue goes to print. We’re now looking for the next person to take over one of Kent’s most loved independent community magazines.
Deal Despatch has been celebrating the people, places, stories and businesses of Deal since 2021, and we’re looking for a passionate, creative and community-minded individual to lead the magazine into its next chapter.
We’re looking for someone who:
📝 Has editorial, journalism, publishing or content experience
📍 Lives in and knows Deal well
🤝 Is well connected locally, or excited to become so
💡 Is full of ideas and enjoys working independently
🎤 Is happy becoming the face of the magazine within the community
The role involves commissioning and curating content, working with contributors, and collaborating with our editorial, design, advertising and distribution teams to bring each issue to life.
It’s a freelance role, working across four issues per year (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter), with the busiest period being the month before publication. The position is designed to fit around other commitments and can be carried out flexibly from home or a workspace.
📅 Starts August 2026
📖 First issue: Autumn 2026 (published October)
⏰ Approx. 40-60 hours per issue
💷 From £750 per issue (depending on pagination)
