Evil Dead Burn (2026) ★★★★½☆

Sébastien Vaniček understands exactly what makes an Evil Dead film work. He doesn’t try to copy Sam Raimi’s style beat for beat—instead, he puts his own stamp on the franchise while keeping all the blood-soaked chaos fans expect.

Souheila Yacoub is fantastic and carries the film with a performance that’s both vulnerable and fiercely determined. The supporting cast all pull their weight, making the family dynamic feel believable before everything inevitably descends into absolute carnage.

This might be one of the nastiest entries in the series. The practical effects are gloriously disgusting, the sound design is relentless, and there’s an oppressive sense of dread hanging over almost every scene. It’s brutal without forgetting to have fun, and it never loses that uniquely Evil Dead blend of horror and dark humour.

It’s not quite the strongest story in the franchise, but when the atmosphere is this suffocating and the gore is this creative, it’s hard not to have an absolute blast.

If you’re an Evil Dead fan, this feels like another worthy chapter—bringing a fresh setting, a memorable lead, and some of the franchise’s most inventive gore while staying true to its roots.
