Bell Island, Newfoundland is a quiet island in Conception Bay with a mining town built into its cliffs.
But underneath it is a maze of tunnels that once made it one of the largest iron ore mines in the world, and the only place in North America that N**i torpedoes ever hit during WWII.
That history left a mark. For generations, islanders have reported the same eerie sight: lines of miners walking up out of the pits on days the mine was closed men who died underground, still finishing a shift that ended long ago.
And near Dobbin’s Garden, locals still speak carefully about the “Swamp Hag” — a spirit said to appear first as a beautiful woman in white, and then as something you don’t want to meet twice.
