Beer Quarry Caves, near Seaton on the coast of Devon was Masters of the Universed (that is an official term 🧐) for its big screen role in the new film.

The vast complex of underground caves and tunnels, carved out over centuries of quarrying the world famous ‘Beer Stone’ that was used in the construction of Westminster Abbey and Windsor Castle.

Now the caves and its labyrinth of tunnels have a new claim to fame, putting some Hollywood sword-swinging action alongside their ancient heritage ⚔️

And if you visit Beer Quarry Caves Official pack something warm for heading underground - and don’t forget your He-Man figures.

🦾 “I rehearsed all those fights to the death so that I looked the business when it came to fighting Man-At-Arms and He-Man.”

Masters of the Universe star Sam C. Wilson talks to Film Devon about stunt training, prosthetics and becoming one of Eternia’s most feared villains.

“Everything, bar the middle of my arm and the bits where it transforms, was real, prosthetics, make-up and costume.”

“We wanted the audience to feel him and have him be properly real.”

Parts of the big screen blockbuster were filmed in Devon at Beer Quarry Caves, and Sam also shares his memories of holidays on the North Devon coast - and why he’d love to return to film there 💚

“It’s an incredibly beautiful and special place to me.”

🗡️ BY THE POWER OF DEVON! 🗡️

One of Devon’s most extraordinary underground locations plays a starring role in the new Masters of the Universe blockbuster 🎬🍿

Beer Quarry Caves, near Seaton on the Devon coast, with its vast caverns, soaring vaulted ceilings and ancient tunnels carved over 2,000 years, provided the perfect dramatic, otherworldly backdrop for some seriously epic scenes in the film.

The production crew moved in ahead of filming, supported by Beer Quarry Caves’ expert team, transforming the caves into a magical Eternia set 💫

We had a great time exploring the caves location recently, and having now seen the finished film, we can confirm the results are pretty impressive⚡ The film is a total blast too 💥

Wonderful that some Devon crew were involved on the shoot too, plus some local background artists feature as well 💚

A few photos here from across the movie, not just Beer Quarry. More to come!

Filming also took place at neighbouring county Somerset’s Wookey Hole, and in Wells Cathedral.

Based on the beloved 80s He-Man franchise, the film stars Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor, plus Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Kristen Wiig, Sam C. Wilson and Alison Brie.

Masters of the Universe is out NOW in UK cinemas and the US from Friday.

Go see it on the biggest screen you can find! 🙌💪⚔️
