Castle studios has once again organized a very special night of live music featuring,
Alan thomson, bass player extraordinaire,
and singer/songwriter Al Fleming.
As a Bass player, Alan thomson was another long-term member of John Martyn’s Band and an accomplished song-writer, His touring and writing credits include Martin Barre, Robert Palmer, Rick Wakeman, Andy Summers, Bo Diddley, Denny Laine and Long John Baldry, John Jorgenson & Jacqui McShee’s Pentangle.
Alan Thomson is a rare talent, being a skilled all-around musician that has chosen the bass to express himself. His touch, taste and drive is palpable and audiences enjoy his artistry as much as his fellow musicians.
Al Fleming has been playing for well over 50 years and first took up guitar in the early 60’s after discovering the Blues through players like Big Bill Broonzy, Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Josh White, etc.
He played his first gig at Aberdeen University Blues Club in 1968 and, since then, he has played hundreds of different gigs with different bands ranging from Blues to Folk to Pop. Currently, he still gigs regularly with the State Blues band.
Over all these years, song-writing has been his first love and he always tries to ensure that each song is strong; musically, lyrically and, importantly, carries a message. With a huge back-catalogue of songs, he has recently formed Al Fleming’s Tell-Tales to perform this material.
This event promises to be a fantastic night of music and dialog from two amazing musicians and not to be missed. Thursday 26 March 7pm.
