Have your say on possible new walking, cycling and wheeling paths across the region.

SWestrans and Dumfries and Galloway Council have teamed up to look at six areas where an active travel path could help connect communities.

Now we’re looking for your suggestions and views on the routes that you’d like these paths to take, and which destinations you would like them to link up. The areas are:

• Wigtown to Newton Stewart
• Langholm to Canonbie
• Springfield to Gretna
• Dumfries to Caerlaverock
• Dalbeattie to Castle Douglas
• Ecclefechan to Annan

Come to our evening drop-in sessions to meet the project team and find out more. See poster for details.

We are pleased to inform that the infrastructure work on the core path between New Abbey and Airds Point is now complete! The work consisted of replacing some of the boardwalks in the woods as well as installing a wee bridge to help people get over the tidal channel a bit easier. This work is part of the South West Scotland Coastal Way project and is funded by & Galloway Council Coastal Benefit Fund, The People's Project, Dumfries and South of Scotland Enterprise a big thanks also goes out to our contractors JSF Ltd. . who have gone the extra mile in helping us recycle the anti-slip strips from the old boardwalks! A special thanks also to all the landowners who have given us their time and the Community Council who have been great supporters of the project.
