Earlier today, we formally launched our new D&G Celebration of Friendship. This is a new project inspired by the UN International Day of Friendship in July and is both a celebration of friendship and an appeal to encourage us all to think about how we can brighten someone's day with a small act of kindness.

As a befriending service for adults in Dumfries and Galloway, friendship, kindness and companionship is at the heart of everything we do, so we are excited to be hosting this week-long celebration of friendship starting on 28th July 2025.

We have plans to host public and private events and to reach out to others with small acts of kindness throughout the week. We would also like members of the public, partners, volunteers, stakeholders, community groups and workplaces to consider hosting their own friendship events during the D&G Celebration of Friendship week or to think about some other way they could make a difference to the lives of others with a small act of kindness.
