BREAKING NEWS:

ANNAN Academy pupils have left the school as normal at the end of the day following a lockdown this afternoon.
Parents received a text at around 3.15 pm which said: "The school is in lockdown, this is not a drill. Do not phone the school office unless it is an emergency."
Minutes later a second notification stated the lockdown had finished and the school day would be ending as normal.

Armed Forces Champion Cllr Archie Dryburgh led this morning's remembrance service at Annan War Memorial.
Veterans, members of the public, nursery pupils all joined in the tributes to the fallen.
The last post was played by Charlotte MacKay of Annan Town Band.

TWO men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder in Annan.

It comes after a 43-year-old woman was left with serious injuries on Fernlea Crescent late on Wednesday night.

A 17-year-old and 36-year-old were arrested and charged and both appeared in private at Dumfries Sheriff Court this afternoon (Thursday).

Emergency services raced to the scene shortly before 10 pm on Wednesday night. And a woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Another cordon was put in place 150 yards down the road where the windows of a pickup truck had been smashed in.

Sections of the street remained taped off on Thursday with a strong visible police presence in the area.

A police spokesman said: "Two people have been arrested and charged after a woman was seriously injured in an incident in Annan.

โ€œA 43-year-old woman was taken to hospital after the incident at Fernlea Crescent around 9.55pm on Wednesday, 15 October, 2025.

โ€œTwo males, aged 17 and 36, have been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder. Both were due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Friday, 17 October, 2025."
