⚓️ A bit of culture today!

McLean Magic Media is out and about in Greenwich today, enjoying a visit to the National Maritime Museum with Diane, Mark and Keith.

A little break from social media, websites and all things digital for some history, culture and a good catch-up with friends. ❤️

Although knowing me, I’ll probably still come away with a few ideas and a camera roll full of photos! 😂

Week Two And We’re On The Move… 🚐❤️

First stop… Top Riley Holiday Cottages, Eyam!😍

We’re here in the Peak District for the next couple of days staying in one of Emma and Mano’s gorgeous new glamping pods — and what an amazing place to stay.

We’re absolutely chuffed to bits for them as they’ve just gone and won UK Holiday Accommodation of the Year! 🏆❤️

We’ve seen how hard Emma and Mano have worked over the years, so to see Top Riley getting this recognition is just brilliant and VERY well deserved.

There’ll still be a wee bit of McLean Magic happening while I’m here… and maybe the surroundings will inspire me to write a bit more of The Face in the Button Box too. 📖

Then it’s on to the next stop… but more about that later! 👀😂

🚨 DUNBAR & SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES — DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS BEING PROPOSED AT WEST BARNS MAINS?

A proposed hyperscale data centre development could be built at West Barns Mains, on the southern edge of Dunbar.

And the scale is enormous!!!!

The proposed development, starting at Spott Roundabout, covers approximately 60.2 hectares — equivalent to around 84 football pitches — on a greenfield site currently comprising Grade 2 agricultural land.

This could have a significant impact on our local area, which is why we believe everyone in Dunbar, West Barns and our surrounding communities deserves to know about the proposal, understand what it could mean and have the opportunity to make their voice heard.

A community group has been created to oppose the proposed development and raise awareness of the concerns surrounding its potential impact.

Afternoon Tea Review ⭐️ Dunbar Garden Centre & Restaurant

Ruth and I enjoyed our 2 monthly catch up over afternoon tea at Dunbar Garden Centre on Sunday – and it was absolutely delicious 😍🫖🍰

Such good value at just £17 per person.

🥪 Choose one sandwich filling each, with 3 generous fingers per person (we shared so chose 2 fillings)
🥐 A lovely selection of savouries
🍰 Plenty of sweet treats to share
🫖 All served on a gorgeous afternoon tea stand

And the best bit? There’s no need to book! 🙌

Afternoon tea is available every day from 12pm, so you can simply turn up, choose your sandwiches and settle in for a proper treat.

We both took 4 items home in a little box for later.

We thought it was fantastic value – definitely worthy of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from us!

Two weeks off… but who said anything about downtime? 😂

I’m right in the middle of my second week off from the day job and it’s been a busy one, especially with my friend visiting from Kent!

Yesterday involved afternoon tea at the Orient Express ☕🍰 followed by lots of charity shop shopping — because apparently I can’t walk past one without going in. 😂

Today started with a visit to Dunbar FoodShare, then it was off to Dunbar Garden Centre for coffee, cake and a little McLean Magic Media working session. 💻☕

There’s been LOTS of social media content created, two proposals still to do, and I’ve been checking out everything happening during the Heart of Dunbar Festival too. ❤️

Later we’re heading to North Berwick for a wander before finishing the day with a visit to see my mother-in-law in her nursing home. ❤️

So… two weeks off? Technically yes.
Actually switching off? Absolutely not. 😂

But the funny thing is, I LOVE IT! When it’s McLean Magic Media, it really doesn’t feel like work.

Week one off work is nearly done and today I’m off on a lovely camping trip to St Andrews with Evelyn and Diane. 🏕️🥂

No work, no rushing about, just good friends, plenty of laughs and some proper downtime.

I could definitely get used to this relaxed malarkey! 😂
