The Harr - Headstone single launch at Clark’s Dundee Fri 8th May 2026

It’s 7pm and I’ve arrived at Clark's in Dundee to support up and coming Dundee band The Harr alongside Fifes We Cry Wolf Perth based Our Dearest Apologies and Alabama Crow . I’ve known Josh and the lads for a few years now and it’s been awesome to see his music evolve from what it was to what they’re doing as a band now but we’ll get to that later…. First up the venue.. Clark’s Dundee Live Music Venue is a well known local music venue and as soon as you walk through the door you can tell why. It’s open bar area with a long bar to accommodate everyone which over looks the stage in the corner so everyone can see. I’ve seen many bands in here over the years and also played the venue so take my word for it, it’s Flockin good. On to the first band of the evening hailing from Fife - “We Cry Wolf” and the wolf certainly did howl loud in the bar with energetic vocals hitting you straight from the start. A pounding bass ripping through the crowd, letting everyone feel it accompanied dual guitars beautifully serenading each other to the driven beat of the solid drummer leading them through every fill. Playing to a room of WCW newbies I’m sure they’ve left with a heap of new listeners as I’m definitely one of them…. Band No2 was Perth based “Our Dearest Apologies” and there was no apologies needed at all as these young pups strut on stage to play their mix of indie inspired rock. A display of range was evident from the talented singer who talked to the crowd like the show was in your living room making you feel welcome from the offset. Recently formed with a single due up for release, I feel I need to help keep these indie rock next gens secret and keep you all in anticipation, and when it’s out… I’m playing it!!! Band No.3 and it’s “Alabama Crow”….. I’m kinda biased when I speak about the lads and how proud I am of them when we play but last night was pretty special and fun to play our hometown city. Now onto the Headline Act “The Harr”…. Their second single release event for the track titled “Headstone” and it definitely made my head “stoned” with the catchy riff and vocal melody which is undeniably Dundee’s very own homegrown Josh Moncrieff. Josh has been and still is a massive part of Dundee’s music scene, organising gigs and hosting Open Mics all over the city. Previous to “The Harr” like myself, Josh was solo but something told him to go in the direction of the band and not have an opportunity “mist”. Joined by James on bass sporting his ever growing hair and tattoo collection showing why he’s the man driving the band’s rhythm section and keeping it tight. I’ve known James from his acoustic work also and his finger work on the fretboard is a joy to watch. The new member to me on the drums was Stuart and after a good chat found out his experience and was blown away to know it was his first time setting up an acoustic kit… Stu mate, you smashed it. Well done and I can’t wait to see your setup evolve over the years. Last up is Tino on lead guitar. Again an active member in the Dundee music scene his ear for Josh’s music is like they are brothers. Complimenting vocal lines but then leading the charge with riffs that stick in your head for hours. Their music is designed to have you up and dancing and heading home still tapping your feet till the early hours with a massive grin on your face. Best of all, the whole night was epic and I enjoyed every second of every band. Meeting new friends and old friends laughing and singing from start to finish……God I love Rock and Roll! Tonight show is a Friday/Sunday Mayors Fest special at the Giffard Arms! With guests Brett Hall, Blade Edwards and the legend Doddy White! The show runs as the bands do… Friday first to last then Sunday first to last! I’ll post the tracks and bands once I get on my lunch break ha ha!! Yes I’m on the back shift! :)

Join me 9pm-10pm tonight on Scotland Rocks Radio for a Mayors Fest Saturday Special. Featuring all the bands who are playing the event at KK's Steel Mill in Wolverhampton on April 11th. To finish the show off, a special dedication to the late Tom Leighton, frontman of Wolf Jaw. Tom was a massive part of Mayors Fest at the very beginning and even though he's not with us anymore.. he's looking down and rocking out hard with the rest of us!

Proud as Pie to be on a radio station who gives up and coming bands an opportunity to play the awesome Wildfire Festival! If it wasn’t for the Scotland Rocks Radio team taking a punt on us and another SRR DJ attending my path to being on said radio station and being able to bring some good old and new RAWK to your ears would never have happened! Sayin that…. This Wednesday I’ve got a corker of a show coming up for you all! My first show of the year and I’ve got the brand new single “Big Mountain” from Aberdeen Heavy Rawkers Deadfire! A band who’s no stranger to SRR and Wildfire! I’ve known Charlie and Tunk for a good few years now and seen them grow into the band the guys have got now from our Aberdeen days at Cellar 35 and it’s a pleasure to play this single for its it’s cherry popper!
