When I was a kid, my parents told me robins are Santa's spies, checking to see if you are behaving. If I was good, I'd find sweets on my windowsill! I love this idea. Did anyone else's parents tell this story? I think it's another reason I love these wee birds.

Also, did anyone else sing this song at primary school?

Built around 1542, this red sandstone tower house was the ancestral seat of the Moutrays of Seafield. The Moutrays were fierce supporters of Mary, Queen of Scots, which eventually led to their downfall and the loss of their lands.
โ€‹Standing 5 stories tall on the edge of the Firth of Forth, it was eventually sold to the Earl of Melville in 1631 before being abandoned in 1733. Today, itโ€™s a protected Scheduled Monument and a reminder of Fifeโ€™s turbulent medieval past. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ“œ

Walk through the streets of Edinburgh or Glasgow, and you are walking on the ghost of Charlestown. Built by the Earl of Elgin, the village's colossal lime kilns didn't just fire up an industry; they created the very mortar that cemented the Scottish Enlightenment and the nation's urban explosion, making this massive, silent monument one of the most foundational sites in Scottish history.

Ps I meant Blonde Sandstone sorry!

The original household helper. If you leave a bowl of cream or porridge by the hearth, this invisible spirit might just do your chores overnight and bring you good luck.

โ€‹โš ๏ธ BIG WARNING: If you try to pay them with clothes, they'll be deeply offended and leave you forever! (Seriously, don't do it.)

Exploring with my Insta360 camera, I'm still getting used to it ๐Ÿ˜†

I visited the incredible, atmospheric remains of St Bridget's Kirk (also known as Dalgety Church) right on the Firth of Forth in Fife.

This isn't just a picturesque ruin; itโ€™s a site packed with centuries of dark history. The main body of the church dates back to the 12th century, but the most striking feature is the two-story Dunfermline Aisle, a haunting, skeletal addition often mistaken for a separate manor house.

For Urbex fans, the real hidden gem is the chilling history of the surrounding graveyard. Look closely and you'll spot the tiny Watch House built to guard freshly buried corpses from body snatchers hired by Edinburghโ€™s medical schools! A true piece of forgotten, morbid history.

If you love exploring historic Scotland, atmospheric ruins, and places with incredible views, you won't want to miss this video.

Kincardine Calm: B&W Scotland

A peaceful morning on the Firth of Forth near Kincardine. The water was like glass, perfectly reflecting these two quiet fishing boats. There's real beauty in the stillness, even with the industrial contrast in the distance.

๐Ÿ“ธ Captured in timeless black and white to focus on the mood and composition. Scotland, you are truly something special.
