We're delighted to announce this year's Live Music Tent line-up...

Fans of traditional Scottish music are in for a treat this August as Cowal Gathering unveils the line-up for its much-loved Live Music Tent.

Taking centre stage on Saturday 30 August, the tent will host a dynamic trio of bands guaranteed to get crowds on their feet — Rhuvaal, The Inverhooley Ceilidh Band, and the much-anticipated debut of The Ross Miller Band.

The tent, renowned for its electric atmosphere and top-tier talent, will once again be one of the Gathering’s most popular attractions. Leading the line-up is Rhuvaal, the high-energy trad-fusion band who last played the Live Music Tent in 2022. Known for their infectious stage presence and modern take on folk tunes, Rhuvaal are firm favourites with the Cowal Gathering audience.

Returning for a fourth year is The Inverhooley Ceilidh Band, the Gathering’s resident party-starters, who have become a cornerstone of the Live Music Tent experience, ensuring everyone from ceilidh veterans to first-timers join in the fun.

Completing the line-up, and debuting the Live Music Tent, is The Ross Miller Band, led by world champion piper Ross Miller. A renowned figure in Scotland’s piping scene, Ross brings a wealth of experience and innovation to the festival stage. A member of both the Grade 1 Inveraray and District Pipe Band and the globally acclaimed Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Ross is known for combining tradition with bold, contemporary flair.

Cowal Gathering Chairman, David Mitchell MBE, shared his excitement for this year’s musical line-up:
‘Music is a huge part of the Cowal Gathering experience and this year I’m excited to see the crowd’s reaction as three of the best festival bands get together for an afternoon of fantastic music. This is one party you won’t want to miss.

‘Once again entry to the Live Music Tent event is included in the general admission ticket to the Gathering, offering access to a full afternoon of high-calibre live music alongside the Highland Games competitions, cultural displays, and family entertainment – it really is one of Scotland’s best family days out.’

This year’s Cowal Gathering runs from Thursday 28– Saturday 30 August.

Cowal Gathering is supported by EventScotland, part of VisitScotland, through their International Events Funding Programme.

Cowal Highland Gathering - the world’s most spectacular Highland Gathering

The Cowal Highland Gathering held in Dunoon, Argyll, is the largest, most spectacular Highland games in the world. Nowhere else will you see world-class pipers, dancers and athletes competing on such a scale. It’s an unbeatable event for all the family. Just ask the 23,000 visitors who come here every year to soak up the unique, friendly atmosphere and stunning Highland location.

First held in 1894, the event is steeped in history. We celebrate this rich tradition, but we’ve added lots of new elements too. There really is something for everyone, from watching the world championship competitions to running in the 5K fun run. The salute to the Chieftain is one of the highlights. As the sun sets down the Firth of Clyde, the massed pipers and drummers play ‘Highland Laddie’ in unison. It’s an unforgettable experience and a fitting end to this, the most spectacular of Highland games.
