📣 East Bergholt Cricket Club – Official Nets Opening 🏏✂️

East Bergholt Parish Council are delighted to share that this Friday, 22nd August at 12:45pm, East Bergholt Cricket Club will be officially opening their brand-new, state-of-the-art 4-lane practice nets 🎉👏

The new facility – among the very best in Suffolk – will be a huge asset for the club and wider community. After some unavoidable production delays, it is wonderful to see this project completed.

🌟 The opening will take place as part of the Cricket Club’s Festival Weekend, and the club would be delighted to see as many people as possible join the celebrations. They also wish to extend their thanks to the Parish Council for their support, with the whole project made possible through CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) awards from Babergh District Council and East Bergholt Parish Council. 🙏💚

➡️ Former Essex cricketer Ray East will cut the ribbon and say a few words.
➡️ Parish Councillors Nigel Roberts and Michael Hockley will also be in attendance.

📢 Red Lion update

The Council is pleased to note that The Chestnut Group has invited residents to a community social evening at The Red Lion on Friday 5th September, 6–8pm. 🍻 We welcome their commitment to ensuring the pub remains at the heart of village life here in East Bergholt. 🌳

On a related note, the Council welcomes the news that Henry Fairbanks, Director of Acquisitions and Wholesale at The Chestnut Group, will be attending the September Parish Council meeting to address councillors. 📝

We look forward to continued engagement between The Chestnut Group and our local community.

🎨✨ Constable 250 is coming to East Bergholt! ✨🎨

In June 2026, we’ll be celebrating 250 years since the birth of John Constable—born right here in East Bergholt and inspired by our beautiful landscapes 🌳🏞️

From 8th–14th June 2026, the village will come alive with local events, exhibitions and celebrations as part of the nationwide Constable 250 programme.

To help bring everything together, East Bergholt Parish Council has set up a coordination team (Cllrs Miller & Burns) and we’re already working closely with East Bergholt Society, St Mary's Church East Bergholt, Constable Memorial Hall and The National Trust.

📣 Are you planning a Constable-related event in 2026? We’d love to hear from you—whether it's in June or later in the year. Let’s make this a truly village-wide celebration!
