We've been team-building at Develo!

Last week, our Birmingham-based team met with Umair Ayub, one of our Senior developers, while he was on holiday in the UK. - Lovely to finally meet you!

And, our Senior Leadership Team met up this week for a strategic planning session with Richard Crooks, discussing how to create a strong company culture in a remote-first business.

When people are busy at work, the first thing that's often sacrificed is the personal connections. But in 2024 and beyond, our relationships with each other are more important than ever - it's how we'll get the best from our team and ensure we maintain a positive working environment at Develo. 💙

Develo turns 18! 🎉

We recently spoke to Luke about the growth of Develo and how he grew the business from a single developer, to an agency working with household brands and building lasting relationships.

Starting with a £3000 loan from The Prince’s Trust (now known as The King’s Trust), registered Develo on the 1st November 2006.

The business has changed, but our core service of expert web development has remained. We’ve stayed strong with Magento for over 12 years with the support of Hyvä rejuvenating the platform, an active community at Mage-OS and great partnerships, we’ve continued to build bespoke websites that perform!

18 years on, we’ve managed to gain ownership of the ‘Develo’ domain (which is a big success), and a revamp coming to the site in the near future! 👀

Reintroducing Ian Rushton, a former Developer at Develo who has returned to the team as a Magento Principal Developer.

With 8 years of Magento Development experience, Ian has mastered the platform’s ins and outs to deliver standout eCommerce solutions that provide the most to our clients. He enjoys working on varied projects where he can tackle challenges and keep development interesting. But if he had to pick one, it would be new Hyvä builds!

Here’s how Ian got into web development: “I taught myself the basics of web development at home while working a retail job, but most of what I know now has come from learning on the job. I’ve picked up a lot from working with different people and projects along the way”.
