When people think of summer, they often think of the blazing sunshine, holidays away or ice cream trips to the beach.
But for me, it’s otters.
It sounds completely random but there’s a reason they’ve become tied to this time of year in my mind.
The memory goes back to when I was sixteen. It started as one of my fondest memories of my teenage years, but something happened that completely changed the way I thought about joy and how quickly life can shift.
And so years later, when I sat and really reflected on this one, I realised that that memory had quietly influenced everything about this month’s illustration.
July is about trying to hold onto those fleeting moments that make summer feel endless, even though deep down we know they won’t last forever.
