Since their formation more than 375 years ago, the Scots Guards has forged a reputation as one of the toughest fighting units in the British Army.

The Scots Guards are an infantry regiment steeped in history, with soldiers renowned for their discipline and courage in battle. They are Mechanised Infantry and train to use speed to cross the battlefield quickly and launch onto difficult objectives.

In addition to their combat role, the ceremonial company has the special honour of acting as guards at royal residences such as Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and of course Palace of Holyroodhouse, while in Scotland. The traditional uniform – a red tunic and bearskin cap – is famous the world over.

On Saturday 28th September 2024 the Scottish Parliament celebrated its 25th anniversary. The event, showcasing Scottish music and culture, was attended by Their Majesties, The King and The Queen. King Charles III and Queen Camilla met Local Heroes from across Scotland, who were nominated by their MSP for their outstanding contributions to their communities.

The pure power of Scottish bagpipes! 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

"Scotland the Brave" is a beloved patriotic tune and a widely recognised unofficial anthem of Scotland. While its soaring, proud melody originated in the late 19th century, the iconic, stirring lyrics we know today were penned much later by a Scottish journalist in the 1950s.

Because of its rhythmic 4/4 march timing, the tune was quickly adopted by military bands and became one of the most popular and recognisable bagpipe marches in the world.

It was famously used as the anthem for the Scotland national football team during the 1982, 1986, and 1990 FIFA World Cups. It is also the authorised quick march for several regiments across the globe, including The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Along with "Flower of Scotland" and "Scots Wha Hae," it is considered one of three unofficial national anthems of Scotland.

Es**rt to the Crown 2024 Edinburgh | The SCOTS Guards.

2024 saw 25 years since The Scottish Parliament opened and His Majesty King Charles III and Queen Camilla were in town for the anniversary celebration. The SCOTS Guards es**rt The Crown of Scotland from Edinburgh Castle down the Royal Mile and then to The Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood.

The Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) received highest honour at special ceremony in Dundee.

This is the first time that Freedom of the City has been conferred on a military unit since the Black Watch were given the honour in 1954.

Drum Major leads the Scottish Pipe Bands at 2024 Nairn Highland Games in Scotland.

Huntly & District Pipe Band Drum Major Derek Dean, leading Nairn & District Pipe Band, Aberlour Community and District Pipe Band, Banff Castle Pipe Band and various others to the tune of "Scotland the Brave" during the 2024 Nairn Highland Games. This was held at the Nairn Links on Saturday 17th August 2024.

Always one of the largest and most popular amateur gatherings in the Highlands, the Games have been an annual feature on Nairn’s summer calendar for 156 years since being moved to 10th August in 1867. Prior to that, they were a winter Games, first held on 25th December 1865. The town is justifiably proud of this, the foremost event in the Burgh calendar. Games Day in Nairn is a little bit like New Year elsewhere - it is the time and the place to meet up with friends old and new, and enjoy a fun-filled event.

The 2 SCOTS Pipes, Drums & Bugles is the official military pipe band of the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 SCOTS), also historically known as the Royal Highland Fusiliers. Based out of Glencorse Barracks in Penicuik, Midlothian, this renowned platoon serves a dual mandate as fully trained combat soldiers and world-class military musicians.

Today, Monday 22nd June, Edinburgh raised the Armed Forces Day flag ahead of their event this Saturday to celebrate Armed Forces Day.

The Lord Provost Councillor Robert Aldridge, flanked by members of the Armed forces, was presented the Flag, and accompanied by the Edinburgh Lothians and Borders Area Standards.

For the first time in more than 70 years a military unit was given the Freedom of the City of Dundee.

The Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) received the honour at a special ceremony in the City Square Today, Saturday (June 20) 2026 following a city centre parade.
