Representation at The Scottish Parliament. To mark Carers Rights Day, CoWL Chair Ann and CEO Mike joined unpaid carers, young carers and organisations for a roundtable discussion with Tom Arthur MSP, Minister for Social Care and Mental Wellbeing and Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP.

The focus was financial, with an emphasis on rising fuel and living costs, challenges around carer payments and a proposed minimum income guarantee. Thanks to Carers Trust Scotland for hosting the event - a really important opportunity for leaders to hear the financial reality being felt by unpaid carers.

As we approach an election year, what commitments would you like to see our politicians make for unpaid carers?

Spring Bulbs are on the agenda - we are busy gathering in compost from our friends at Silvibio and along with a huge quantity of daffodil bulbs provided by our new friends at Strathbrock Community Garden we plan to pot up a large number of bulbs for donation to local residents in Livingston plus a few care homes if they would like some. Special thanks to our friends at WLCAN who provide support to a number of our endeavours, we are very grateful to them for their financial support to this project. If any readers can think of a suitable recipient for a pot of growing bulbs please get in touch. All are welcome.
