“The view remains in my mind as perhaps the most beautiful I have seen in Scotland” - Sir Hugh Munro, talking about the view from the summit of Beinn Sgritheall 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Fun fact that I didn’t know before I started the ascent: it’s also the steepest Munro in Scotland…so the view is definitely earned! 🫠😴

Here are my 2025 highlights 🎉!

So I’ve been a bit hard on myself this year, feeling like I haven’t been doing enough and feeling somewhat stagnant in many aspects of my life…however, instead of focusing on what I haven’t done, it’s time to celebrate what I have done this year! 👇

1. Experienced my first ever summit camp, in harsh winter conditions and on the Ring of Steall no less! I also experienced my second summit camp in summer with the wonderful folks at ⛺️

2. Had some truly incredible stays in some of the most beautiful parts of Scotland. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some of the very best accommodations in the country, including , and 🏠

3. Visited 7 countries, incuding some truly incredible trips to the Dolomites, Madeira and Iceland! 🇮🇸

4. Summited a whole bunch of mountains, both new and repeats, solo and with great company! 🥾

5. Have taken the pressure off of myself with social media, posting only what I want and when I want to…I’m starting to enjoy the process of creating and my adventures again!

Turns out 2025 wasn’t so bad after all - now here’s to a fantastic 2026; I can’t wait to see what it has in store!

Happy new year when it comes, I hope you have a fantastic year ahead!! 🥂

Sending out 2025 the same way I started it: with an epic solo Munro adventure!

I’ve had my eye on Beinn Sgritheall for a long time, and I knew I wanted my last one of the year to be special…so with blue skies forecasted, I set the alarm for 1:30am (ouch) and set off with the aim of starting it just before sunrise.

Despite the forecasts, a rogue cloud unfortunately haunted the summit all day, I tried waiting it out but cut my losses after an hour and began the descent, only to reveal stunning views below almost immediately!

I finished the day off with a beautiful sunset over the western isles before beginning the 4.5hr drive home…absolutely knackered today, but it well and truly has brought my appetite back for some more great hikes in 2026!

Planning a visit to Iceland in 2026? Save this post and read below! 🇮🇸

What started as me being trusted to book a European city break turned into a long weekend exploring the south coast of Iceland…technically, the hotel was in Reykjavik so it still counts…?

The plan was to rent a car and explore some of the lesser known spots, however due to strong winds throughout the visit we opted to go with a tour company instead.

We found who offered some great tours, and booked into a golden circle tour and a South Island / ice cave tour, ticking off some of the most popular “must-see” spots. These shots are all from the second day, exploring the south coast and Katla Ice Cave.

My absolute favourite stop was Skógafoss, a stunning 50m waterfall that I’ve wanted to visit for a long time and honestly, it far exceeded my expectations.

📸 All photos taken on A7iv and iPhone 17 Pro Max…which shot is your favourite??? 🤔

Save this post for your next Highlands retreat 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This time of the year is made for cosy weekends with friends and family, and where better to spend them than the Scottish Highlands?

This is Craggiemhor, one of the ; it has 3 bedrooms, sleeps up to 8 and comes with a private hot tub and sauna - perfect for relaxing after a day of adventures!

Nestled within a forest on the hillside of Loch Ness, the cabins are the perfect retreat from nature lovers. The forest is the perfect place to spot red squirrels, and it’s only a 10-15 minute scenic walk through the trees to the Falls of Foyers, a stunning 43m waterfall.

We absolutely loved our stay and cannot wait to return one day soon. This was also Sassi’s first time outside of the city in her whole 6 years, and she absolutely loved it just as much as the rest of us 🐶

Yesterday I finally bagged my first new Munro in 4 months - Lochnagar, in the southern Cairngorms.

Whilst often completed as a loop, I took a linear approach, following the truly stunning Loch Muick before beginning a relatively straightforward and well-tracked route to the summit and eventually returning the same way. The whole hike covered 15 miles and took around 7.5 hours (allowing for plenty of stops for photos and drone shots).

From the car park, the conditions were promising - blue skies at sunrise, a warm sun and some truly beautiful conditions…however as the day progressed and elevation was gained, visibility dropped significantly and temps reached lows of around -15°C.

Either way, it’s good to be back, and it was a great day to debut my new iphone 17 pro max camera, leaving the mirrorless at home. I’m really impressed by the quality you can shoot on it and am excited to get back to simple point and click, honest capturing of my hikes!

The best cloud inversion of 2025…so far?

Throwback to a great hike on Ben Donich, a Corbett near Arrochar, last month. This whole hike took under 4 hours, but the views were second to none.

Who else is holding out hope for some great inversions this winter season??
