Want the undiscovered Fringe? We're here for you. We review student, amateur and Free Fringe plays. Navigating the Edinburgh Fringe Festival can be a nightmare.

With such a lot on offer, how do you know what's worth seeing? That's when we step in. Edfringereview.com (EFR) reviews and promotes the best of the undiscovered Fringe. We focus on student and amateur productions which rarely receive the press coverage they deserve. We send two student reviewers (from Bristol, Cambridge, Durham and Oxford) to school and university productions, Free Fringe shows,

and to a variety of amateur and professional performances. By providing two reviews of each performance, we hope to encourage active debate. Calling all budding journalists, writers, and theatre enthusiasts:
Ed Fringe Review 2026 are currently taking applications for reviewers! ✍️

We are a student-run reviewing organisation that focuses on amateur, free and student theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe. 🎭

It is an incredible opportunity to spend a week at the Edinburgh Fringe, watching and reviewing two shows a day, meeting other theatre enthusiasts and immersing yourself in the joys of the Fringe. Plus, your writing will be published and read by those attending the festival! 🏙️

It is equally an excellent opportunity if you are interested in a career in the arts. Our alumni include journalists, theatre directors, executive producers and writers.📝

Comedian Liam Withnail’s hour Big Strong Boy has become one of the most beloved shows of 2025’s Fringe. It’s touching, vulnerable and very, very, funny. He spoke to EFR about the struggles with depression and alcoholism he opens up about in the show, his journey into comedy, and how none of us really have a f*cking clue what’s going on.
