A little tone nostalgia: this 20 year old RP80 was dusted off to hear how those 2005 speaker emulations match up when played through a modern FRFR powered cabinet.

Staining and finishing a maple neck doesn't have to be complicated.
I used water based amber stain to give a vintage look to this replacement bass neck from
Once I achieved the desired colour, I sealed it with Crimson's quick drying Melamine finish before applying a few coats of their high build oil to complete the look.

All done by hand without the days of curing time required for a sprayed lacquer finish. Perfect for DIY on a deadline.

After reviving this ruined bass, it was outfitted with all new hardware and pickups.
With a slick black and brass look, humbucking J style pickups, and a whole lot of punk rock attitude - this is a must play instrument.
